18 inch wheels on an 87?
I've seen some of you running 18's on your 951s. I found some 18x8 and 18x10 wheels from a '99 993 (did they stil make 993's in '99?). Would they fit on my '87? Don't you put like 305's on a 10" wide wheel? I've never seen anyone running rubber that wide.

You should check the front wheels and ensure that the hub opening will fit on your car. Some, possibly all, of the late 996 wheels are machined differently for the hub and will not fit on the fronts of 944s. But if that is the case, and you are willing to deal with the hassle, you can get by with using a thin spacer, 1/4" or so to get them to fit.
I would use a 285/30 on a 10" rim.

I run a 265 on a 10 inch rim and it works fine. The only reason I ran that narrow was because the front tires are only 225 and I HATE understeer.

265's came on the 18x10's in 99-01 on the 996 from Porsche. MY 02+ 996's came with 285's on the 18x10's. The wheels are the same but the suspension set up and geometry were different on 99-01 vs. 02+ cars that is why the change in rubber size. Both tires sizes work well on the 18x10 rims. You will find that the tire choices are much greater in the 265 size. Both are expensive.

Danny - please check the size of the fronts to be sure. I also have a set of 7.5 and 10.0 x18 hollowspoke twists which were from a 1999 996. OEM tires were 225 and 265 and I have replaced with Dunlop SSRs in the same size with great results, so far.

No, the last 993s were in '98. If they are the 993 Turbo Twist style, then you should not have the issue I mentioned about the hub center not fitting.
But check the rear offsets, there are two factory 10" wheels, one for the Turbo (et 40) and one for the narrow body (et 65). I dont think the et 40 will fit, the et 65 will.

Here are the hollow spoke Technology (aka, Turbo Twist) wheels on my S2 in 7.5 and 10.0x18. You must use the 65 offset rears. I run 225/40 and 265/35 tires, but I believe the 285/30 will also fit in the rear.

The small pipe of 2.1/4" is directly from the wastegate so there is no restriction when the wastegate opens (1bar) and helps backpressure a lot when you really need. The sound when the wastegate is open between 1-1,5 bar is like a motorcycle, I love it...!
