Have you seen the new laws against child and spouse abuse? My first wife commited suicide 20 years ago, she stabbed herself 3 times in the back and jumped into a river. Now it seems that I am the one who is going to end up in the river.

No production car of the 80's was as easy to drive fast as the 951 not even the mighty 911 carrera or the fat 928.

Oh boy. Don't let the guys on the 928BBS see that. Someone will get their nutz in an uproar.

Bring it, anyway what do they know about Porsches? All they do is talk politics and bs like a bunch of wussies I have seen their threads. "Mr bush this" ," Mr bush that", "I hate God", "I hate this or that" , "I am gay and proud of it" ," my wife left me for a guy with a 951", you know what I mean.

Yeah, and that all was from one guy! He must have great inner turmoil.

"when the neon have a history similar to the 951 then perhaps we can talk."

I think you'll find that neon's now have a much more extensive racing history than 944's. Lets not make too much of a 924 being raced in lemans once or twice, a couple of cup series and a handful of entries in a few races back in the 80's.

I'm not trying to dismiss the current 944 cup series being run but neon's currently see way more racing than 944's do. Take a look at how many neon's are competitively raced and count up the hours and development time. It will be more than the 944's ever saw.

12 Steps to 951 Ownership - by DanG:

1. Buy 944. Own it for a few minutes. Find out about 944 turbos. Regret original purchase...

2. Decide you want to get a turbo, but realize you'll probably blow it up right away.
3. Pick a cheaper turbo car to blow up (repeatedly) before hopefully learning what not to do.

4. Blow up engine (#1).

5. Rebuild the whole darn thing yourself (#1).

6. Go through some head gaskets.

7. Blow up engine again.
8. Buy a "good" short block, build it up.

9. "Good" short block has horrible rod knock. Take it to Florida for the $2004 GRM Challenge anyway.

10. Make one 17 second pass follow with a 21 second pass ending with the #4 rod going through the block!

11. Replace short block with another good shortblock. Prepare for sale (very soon, PM me if you're interested.

12. Buy a 951. Send it to CW for a 2.7L sleeve job. Run standalone with WBO2 from the start. Hope you have some better luck!

You can do it too!

Turbo dodges are cool though, I just had some bad luck and made some dumb mistakes. I call it "experience".

Are we talking about road race or drag strip? or perhaps it's because there is a lot of peons.

Dan, you did the grassroots $2004 challenge? Later when I have more time, I am going to PM you a link to a thread on another BB. I had planned on entering that with a metro that I turbocharged, but I had some other issues. I think you will get a kick out of it!

Yup. I actually tried getting the car together for the $2001 challenge, but I only gave myself a month to prepare it, in the middle of winter (back when the challenge was held near the end of Jan). I got the car 100% together for $2002, but blew the engine a few days before I was supposed to leave. Skipped working on the car for $2003, but spectated while I was down there on spring break. Then finally got things together enough to show up for $2004. Although thats pretty much all I did... show up.

Turbo metro does sound cool. I'll look out for the link.

My plans for the $2006 challenge are still up in the air. Luckily it will be in October, so I have plenty of time to get something together. I'll probably work with a team of guys from around here, so it will be more likely to succeed as well.
