MBC lines through the firewall?
There seems to only be few mentions in the archives so I'm asking.
Those of you who have the MBC under the radio (or just inside the car), how did you route the lines through the firewall?

My MBC is in the glove box. I pulled the battery and the glovebox out. I used a center punch AFTER I had 100% identified where I wanted to go through, which is just to the left of the unused grommet on the upper part of the firewall. I did not "hit the hole" on the unused location and couldn't get a line to drop through...I think David Floyd did but IDR, maybe he'll chime in. After I drilled the hole in the uppper fire wall, I reinstalled the glovebox, drilled again into the glove box. I used a 3/8 grommet to protect my line going through the firewall and dab of silicone around it; black silicone on black paint, you can't even see it.

I ended up bringing the line(s) into the battery box area through the one of the battery cable grommets, then into the cab through another grommet I think was for the vac control for the HVAC. I really didn't want to drill any holes.

Dan, I'm going with the unused gromet just below the battery penetration on the forward side of the battery box and the unused gromet behind the battery into the pass compt for my EBC pressure and vacuum lines. Everything will be very incognito.

On my car, there was a grommet with a wire harness in it that came in from the battery box and ends up right behind the glove box. (A friend's 86 didn't have it, and a friend's 87 did not have it so you might not either.) If you do have that, there is more than enough room for 2 hoses. You can run it in the glovebox or down to the radio spot. I actually took out my cig lighter and put the black **** there. It looks OEM! In fact, I have had people grab it before thinking it opened the glove box! (I would take a pic for you but my car is not here. )

I loosened the big grommet behind the engine that feeds the vacuum line to the KLR and made another hole it it. Then put it back. It was a bit fiddly but I didn't want to make any holes in the fw.

hello everyone,
i just installed mine inside too.
first when i looked at the mbc, it seems to be missing a plug. so i plugged it.after installing inside i went for a drive and noticed that i wasn't getting more than 4psi.
i then took the plug out and lo and behold i was able to hit 15 again.
can anyone explain this. is it suppose to be venting? its sounds like an air leak inside.
btw i mounted mine under the radio.
the wife was scared yestedday when she heard it leaking and thought she broke the car again.

I routed mine through the shifter hole. It does not effect the shifting and I have had no problems at all. I just didn't want to drill any holes in the car or water to come in.

I ran them through the main grommet for the DME/KLR. I cut 2 new holes in the upper corners, lubed it up, and slid the lines through. Looks stock and best of all, no cutting of metal. (Had to cut a hole anyhow for my EGT sensors... but hey.. didn't have to cut 2)
