Default 951 twin turbo.....hmmmmmm

I have no doubt that some (if not all) of you have already seen this but it has me thinking about an experiment. Not sure that I will do this but it would be interesting to see what the out come would be.

Here's a pic of the second turbo:

AMAF is a troll who is reformed into "V944god".

That setup is actually very popular in Japan, the tubo at rear of the car...

That's what I thought (the troll part). This set is real. It is actually very interesting. I was VERY sceptical at first (laughing in guy's face sceptical) but have seen it in several mags and it is apperently legit.

They are currently selling kits but why couldn't this work for us?? The link to there site is www.ststurbo.com

It seems like a good idea and it works..........

You're not going to do that, you know better - you are just stirring it up. Not buying it man.

The lag on that second turbo must be pretty bad.

Not buying what?? Just think, no more trying to stuff that big Garrett under the intake or having to fabricate on new intake, just use two smaller turbo's or one larger one with a little guy in back to help the boost along. All of the differant trim turbo's available you could get a rear turbo that really won't make any power until the upper rpm ranges where the primary turbo is falling off.

If you build it they will come.

I was just about to say that looked like an STS kit. They are the hot new item in the Camaro/Firebird world (initially designed/released for them a year or so back). We've got a local club member with a late model Camaro that has one. Awesome power gains, and works really well with the V8. The biggest concern most folks had was with the long piping lenght (since it's at the back in place of the muffler), but it doesn't really seem to have a negative impact at all. The only real problem our local member has is that STS hasn't been able to get the tuning exactly right (runs good, but could be better).

The big question I have, is why you'd want to do this on a 951? I'm guessing to allow setup of one turbo for low end power and one for upper end power? Also, STS doesn't make a 951 kit, nor do they have any plans to that I'm aware of. There's nothing to say that you can't use the idea and build your own setup, but it'd be big $$ to get it right.

FYI, just to clarify for everyone, that pic is from a Pontiac GTO with STS kit. There is no Porsche kit (951, 911, or otherwise).

Anybody want to take a guess on the thermal expansion on the feed exhaust pipe.
