Ran with a C5 Vette
It seems nobody wants to race the 944. Not sure if it is because they think they are slow or too fast. Anyway I had my first real race (where both parties were racing from the start) in the 944.
I was stopped at a light and a guy in a black C5 vette convertible did a u turn on green right in front of me and then proceeded to go slow. There was no traffic in front of us for about 3/4 of a mile or so. I decided to see if he was actually up to racing so I got up along side him and punched it. He punched it right away and off we went. I'm not sure exactly where we stopped, but it was in the 75 mph area. It started at about 20 mph and we both shifted once. He got a 1/2 car lead on me from the start and never pulled any farther away. I was very suprised. I figured he would pull at least a car or 2 on me, but he didn't get away at all and he was flooring the crap out of it. I don't think his exhaust was stock because I've never heard a C5 make that kinda noise. It sounded very mean. That was pretty cool. I knew the 951 was fast, but to not lose ground to a C5 Vette in the meat of his torque curve makes me pretty happy. From a dead stop it probably would have been different, but I'm still pretty happy.

Sorry. I'm used to having them in my footer on other boads. Will have to change that here too.
All I have are Autothority Stage II MAF + Chip, 3" cat back, newer clutch, and Konis all around. That is why I was suprised he didn't beat on me really bad. I haven't done a thing to the car. It was all from the previous owner. There might be more done, but I don't know about it. Well, I actually replaced the diverter valve because it was shot, but that is it.

becareful.....certain members will come in posting how your the problem with our society.
Nice runs.....a bolt on chipped 951 will walk a c5...and a chipped 951 in healthy running order will walk a vert c5. If its a auto vert....those things are turds.
c5 vert-3500+lbs 300rwhp(m6) 285-290rwhp(auto)
chipped healthy 951-250rwhp 2900lbs. Not hard to see how you can run with him...and with just a few mods you would be pulling him..
Stock c5's dont trap high at all...maybe 104-105mph in the 1/4.
Nice runs ...post up a pic of your car. Im a photo *****.

oh my god...just read your mods. You would walk a stock vert c5 easily.
He was prolly modded.
Do you have a dp wastegate? exhaust?

If anything is adjusted on the WG I don't know about it. Exhaust is just the standard 3" from lindsey i believe. I got the car because it was almost immaculate in and out and ran really strong. Here are the requested pics.

do you have the stage II maf or the stage II kit with turbo, maf, and chip. If you only have the maf and chip thats pretty cool that you stayed with the vette!

Ok, this is where I feel really embarassed. I meant Autothority stage 2. The Vitesse is what I was looking at getting. I've spent so much time modding the Volvo that I forgot the correct names for the 951 stuff. Will edit above to reflect my mistake.

haha it doesnt take much to out run a stock c5...much less a stock c5 vert. They really arent fast cars.
You need to have heads/cam with full bolt ons in a c5 to have a fast car.
I will run my friends heavily modded 01 zo6 whenver I do my turbo upgrade...we will see how we fair on them.
He last dyno was 426hp. Off the bottle ofcourse.
Hey jim why dont you run around and pick on some h/c c5's in your area? I would love to get some feedback as to how much you pull on them.... It would be nice to know. Be it 10 cars or more at 130-140..lol.

no worries man. I just figured the c5 you ran had some mods and since you guys on went for like 60mph...you didnt have a chance to really stretch your legs much.

The 997 carrera S and the c5 zo6 take me a second or 2 to pass with pump gas @17 psi. I like to kid around and say they have diesel engines on Rennlist - but really they are quick.
Race gas however, and we are talking a couple of EXITS distance.
