Under hood liner replacement?
Okay,
You guys know what I'm talking about. That nasty dirty foam that falls apart and gets the motor all cruddy. I have seen in photos of the 944 fest that many people have a silver-ish liner instead of that nasty old foam liner. Is that the same as the heat wrap blanket matterial? If so, what kind of glue do you use? Or is it something different all together? Either way I hate the foam stuff and I really want to replace it with something that won't fall apart. At the same time though, I want to protect my hood's paint. Any suggestions? Please advise. Thanks.

Paragon-products.com sells what you are looking for. It comes precut and had an adhesive backing. Pretty straight forward installation. It's on my list of things to do to.

I know the later ones didn't have it but is there any difference running one compared to not running one? On mine, someone took like 90% of it off but still has most of the sticky glue with some padding left, looks not good, so I am not sure if I want to try and clean it some then put in a new one or, just try to get it off. What is good to use on it to get it off?? Like that Glue gone??...

I started with a shop vac (sucked 99% of old stuff off), then lots of rubber cement remover (lots and lots), then apply fresh new factory pads from 944online.com

It seems either material could be purchased from something like a 3M distributor and user cut to the hood shape. I don't know if the nominal cost savings would make it worthwhile, though.
And from my experience the foam is best removed with 3M's aerosol "Adhesive Remover." I haven't used it but my friend damian has and said it worked quickly and made the whole removal operation much less intense.
