Default Another Project started (402hp/550nm of torque, dynos sheet at page 9)

Hey guys. I belive this is my first post here on this forum. But anyway.

4 months ago I had a good opportunity to purchase on of the latest model of 951. Production year is 1991, I belive thats the last year 951 was ever produced. I bought my ride after I had driven my friend one, since then I just love the car and I have never driven anything that good in my live. I have had different cars before that like Mercedes 2.3 16 valve cosworth model, also GT3000 VR4, but 951 is in totally different level in performance and handling wise. So after purchasing the car I did simple mods like mbc, adjustable Fpr (modified the OEM part). boost, oil pressure, A/F gauge. Aftermarket BOV, I also took it to the local dyno and the result was 260 hp/ 406nm of torgue, in 1.3 bar of boost. I drove it for a while and then I found this fourm (have to say it's one of the best web community ever, I've got so much info how to modify how to take care of 951 etc). And then everything started
I ordered:
GT30R dual ballbearing turbo, with K26 flange
Tial 40mm wastegate
720cc injectors
Bosch 044 motorsport fuel pump
XS perfromance FPR and Autometer Fuel pressure gauge.
Autometer Pro Comp Oil pressure, A/F, Boost Gauge.
Tatech engine managenet pro version :
Features:
- injection control
- direct fire or distributor ignition ( i have direct fire with ignition amplifier)
- anti-lag system
- wastegate actuator control
- gearshift indicator
- rev limiter
- water injection control
- RS32 data acquisition
- EEPROM data acquisition
- flat shift (quick shift)
- idle solenoid control
- EGT sensor support
- start rev limiter (launch control)
- knock sensor feedback
- UEGO based autotune option
Read more: http://www.dc-ice.ee/home/index.php?...rand=289&x=289
I also bought Porsche 911 GT2 clutch ( it will fit after little modification on flywheel, good thing is that it is that the cover itself is made of alumminium so it is mutch lighter than stock unit.
Turbo XS style BOV will be replacing the stock unit.
Zimmermann crossdriller front and rear rotors will be helping to stop the car.
Piperscross XXL air filter (should be good for 500hp)
Also I had clinder cilinder head rebuilded, all seals replaced, cam cover powdercoated and porche letters polisched to mirror. At the time i was doing it I had a good chance to check the cilinder walls condition, they were nearly perfect.

At them moment I have modified the engine mont and also I made middle flange (thanks for tip to Edman951) to fit the turbo to engine mount. I had to cut the engine mount about 15mm to fit the flange and turbo. Now there is 4 mm space between cold side and intake manifold So it is not so hard to fit GTballbearing turbo to 951.

Next step is the Exhaust system witch will be replaced by 3" custom downpipe, also rest of the exhaust will be made of 3" stainless steel.

My car is still in progress but ill keep you posted, It will be on running condition by the end of next week, after that i hope to post some dyno numbers. My goal is smth like 400RWHP, will see.

Here are some pics:

This is the ride:

She's a beauty. Should be pretty mean when you have all the upgrades installed. Good luck with it.

Hmmmm,
The Tatech ECU looks interesting. Is it plug & play or
do you have to rewire everything & does it work
with stock sensors ?

Question,
With the new pressure plate and clutch, are you going to use an aluminum flywheel? It would help get that motor spinning up quicker and while you have all that stuff out it would be much easier to install. Just a thought.

What color is that car? Is it a custom paint job or was that a factory color in '91? It's beautiful!

Looking good markus.
Happy you got the engine mount worked out.
You should post pictures of the mount.

Keep us posted on your project

As we all know there are not so many plug and play devices available for porsches, so isnt tateh, but it is not hard device to intall. The way i did it : Due to the direct ignition and removed distributer I have no divices connected to the camshaft. So I used distributer location for new trigger wheel, it is now connected to the camshaft on old distributer location. Drigger wheel gives readings for rmp and home signal, what tatech needs for operate. I also weld a bracket for hall sensros. I will place pictures later (one picture can give more then 1000 words). As far as I know porsche has only 1 hall sensor + 1 sensor what is getting readings from flywheel teeth ( tatech can not operate with this one), and I thought it is much easier to make a complete new trigger wheel, then to place one more trigger pin on flyfheel and make place for one more hall sensror + I have all operational sensros on the engine bay, if something happens then I can eliminate failure withouth removing the clutch etc). Everything else is pice of cake. Just need to find location for map sensor, intake air temp sensor, replace stock idle speed engine (stock one would not work, you need one with 2 pin connector, porsche stock unit is 3 pin). Stock boost control solenoid is not working with tatech because it works opposite way. You can either buy Apexi solenoid ( one of the best I think) or the one what Bosch produces for Audis etc.

I will place picture, i did it a little bit different way but desing is same.

This is not stock colour. Car is being repainted in Strosek purple. olso the spoilers are made by strosek.

For start i will shave some metal off from stock flywheel ( some 3 kg) and at the same time i will modify it to fit pressure plate.

My biggest concern now is that I dont have Wide fire gasket, because here in Estonia (small country where I live) noone can supply it.

My other concern is rear axels, can they stand a pressure? Are they strong enough?

The GT30 uses a TO4E cover right? So it fits under the stock intake?

Yes it fits. distance between turbo intake is around 4 mm. I just have to modity crossover pipe a little bit. And as I say'd befor I cut engine mount about 15mm and made a 30 mm flange ( I will measure it and give exact nr) between engine mount and turbo.

Turbo

With airfilter

Custom 3" Downpipe vs stock unit

Pictures are taken with my phone, sry for bad quality but you get the idea, what is happening there.

Tatec system is made here in Finland. More info can be found from here:

http://www.tatech.net/ (only in Finnish)

You can re-use most of your Bosch stuff with it
You can tune up Tatec with your PC. Lanquage options are Finnish or English

The basic price is 790€ , "pro kit" 1290€
