Without having to spend any arm & a leg to make 500 rwhp,
the 2 JZ is just incredible. Well if you put on a 16V head on
the 951, it could also make very good hp on pump fuel but
the cash involved ????????.

btw I love grand nationals. Those cars ****ing ROCK! its a shame now though that everyone know what they are. Back in the day it was such a sleeper car.
A friend of my dads used to pour ice into his icebox setup at the track. he was running mid 12's with bolt ons. Those cars are pretty cool

There are some holes in the story. Anytime there are holes, I tend to discount the story as false or exagerated. What is one glaring problem? It claims that Pupra owner had a C6 vette before the Pupra. Hmm. If he bought the Pupra in 2002, did he have one of the top secret pre-production C6s?
I always get a kick out of how these Pupra owners portray Hayabusa. They are "all built up". Here's a news flash. 180hp Hayabusa is a new airfilter and pipe. Thats it. They make around 165hp STOCK to the rear wheel. I got 15rwhp with a pipe alone.
Lets see this Pupra owner actually run a street gas Hayabusa on street gas. Or how about this. Why not run a Hayabusa that needs race fuel? Oh, cause until around 300rwhp a hayabusa can get away with street fuel. Not much of a race there.
As far as a "professional rider". who was it? Why doesn't he try Ricky Gadson? He has put a STOCK (yes, 100% stock NO MODS not even tire change, 100% stock) Hayabusa through a 9.47 quarter mile. So there is the next hole. The "pro rider".
Pupra guys aren't worth the toilet paper they write their stories on.

Here we go again. I have a friend with a built supra, 650 rwhp on a mustang dyno on pump gas not fully tuned. Yes that is a built engine but this thread is stupid. There are some cars that can handle power better than others. Oh and as far as a grand national is concerned awesome car but you are forgetting 800 cc more displacement than a supra.

Gentlemen !........This is getting out of hand!
When ever their is a comparo, it should be with equal or same class vehicles, Biult in the same time period.
you can't compare a 93-98 Supra TT to a 86-89 951 T. it's just not fair for the Supra or the 951.
Comparisons should be objective. I don't think it would be fair to compare a 79 Celica Supra against A 89 944 S2. Or a 82 280 zx Turbo against a 93 RX7 Turbo, it just not fair. Technology changes very fast, and makes this types of comparisons pointless.
Regards,
AL

Yeah? Well I know a guy who made 3204 to the tires on 124psi. MY DADDY CAN BEAT UP YOUR DADDY!!!
Seriously though... wow. Cars with half that power-to-weight are fun. Cars with that much power should probably just be made illegal

Hey, black944turbo,
what do you (or your friend) mean by a "built engine", exactly?
At what RPM is his peak power being made?
The answers to these questions would dictate whether or not your casual post (which could be impressionable to some readers) has any merit in regards to said pump hp figures.

Not sure on RPM range probably very high. The car has twin T61s absolutely absord. Built engine means that the engine has had everything replaced with stronger stuff. I believe he has about 40k in the engine. But then there are people on this board with the same in there. Not a practical car. The other friend I know that has 1000 hp is running a T78 and and stock bottom end. But that is very laggy as well. Now the thing that most people miss with these 1000 hp supras is that they will only go straight and even then controlling wheel spin is the key to it. I am extremely impressed with all cars. Supras have very strong engine cast iron blocks which means a heavy engine but very strong. Regards.

And another thing: it doesn't mean you have to have it at full throttle the whole way to work, unless you work on a runway guiding SR71's to land!!!
Any car can be a "daily driver", as long as you have control of the throttle!

Same with 650hp 911 Turbo track cars; NO, you don't have to floor it around a turn, you use common sense and wait for the straights to use full power! There's no such thing as "too much power for the track", unless you're an idiot and keep it floored!

What can't be done with a Buick 3.8 Turbo (at 1/2 the cost) that can be done with a 2JZ?
Like I said earlier, Supras are drag cars (and one of the costliest drag cars!)
I know they can be made very fast, but everything about them spells Jap Crap! Crappy suspension, crappy brakes, total isolation from the road to the steering wheel! Unless you're going in a straight line, do not go over 120mph, cause it gets scary!
Come on, it was a $50k sports car when it was new!
And it never felt safe and stable like a Corrado or 944 at high speed! (Cars that were older and 1/2 the price or less).
There are many reasons why most people here choose to drive Porsches and other German cars........I don't think an explanation is necessary.
Drive is the key word. For 5 minutes or 8 hours.
