Default Carbon Fibre 962

Had a garage crawl last night to see the completed road going 962 thats been built here in NZ. Incredible bit of engineering - build up out of a combination of ex-factory parts and bespoke parts.

The full carbon body means its lighter than the original race cars - and it has air-con. One of the road concessions was hydraulic ride high adjustment to lift it 40mm for getting over speed humps.

They've just completed compliancing ready for road registration before its off to Europe and US.

Don't anyone even suggest a group buy

all the fasteners are titanium and anything over 12mm is hollow (M12 has a 5mm hole) - the rod ends are also titanium, hand made metric and are an in-stock Porsche part

Here is a pretty good web site the car. I used to race against the prototype 962s, Nissans, Toyotas, and Jags back during the 90s in the USA. Fabulous series.

If we spring for some 98 octane, think we can get a ride in it George?

One niggling detail. The site says the electrical system is built to F1 specs using aerospace connectors and such. Yet, the photo on the engine page showing one of those connectors shows a plastic piece. Nowhere in either F1 or in the aerospace industry will you find a plastic electrical connection. For the money they have already invested in this car, why not complete the deal with no-**** cannon plugs and color coded mil-spec wire? Especially if they mention it in the first place.

Not to say I wouldn't take delivery of it though...

one of its racing counterparts is for sale;

http://mobile.de/SIDrCydp76GyJWUlX4y...1111136524245&

884 hp, built for Le Mans 24 hours, 0-200 (124 mph) km in 7.2 secs, top speed 404 (251 mph). Oh by the way, it is street legal, so nobody will ever be able to pass you on the German autobahn. Anyone have a spare million euros?

That looks like the Dauer 962. Same paint scheme anyway.
