Digging this up from the way-back machine, but I'm seriously questioning these numbers on the spreadsheet. This year I raced my 944Spec racecar and when you combine the data I have for the car on my scales before races, then the "during event weights" for both PCA and NASA, there's simply no way the calculations work. I still have all factory glass, factory body panels and glass per the rules, minus the moonroof and the factory dash (replaced with Broadfoot) and I've stripped the interior and installed a custom rollcage and single race seat. I'm at 2583 with me, all race gear and two gallons fuel. I have to carry 20# ballast to meet minimum of 2600 with both organizations.
Some of those numbers are bogus, made up by GT Racing to fool you into selling parts.
A stock 944 hood is 42 lbs.
A 944 glass hatch with rubber spoiler is somewhere around 40-60, I have weighed several but just can't remember. Not 84 like they say.
944 fenders weigh nearly nothing once you strip the undercoat, which might be double counted there.
Random data point but an entire stock NA exhaust system from "collector flange" to muffler tip is only about 30 lbs.
I also don't believe the stock manual seats and spare tire weigh that much.
I weighed my spare stock hatch and it's 59# on my scale. I believe I'll remove a significant amount of weight from that item, and I"ll likely remove 10-15# from the windshield, but the rest? I just don't see. Dishonest numbers from vendors to sell parts is BS, and I'd have hoped the "community" would police this list.
I’m surprised that after 30+ years we haven’t got a accurate, comprehensive and conclusive list, especially as we have such dedicated breakers and racers on this community.
figure Lexan of sufficient strength (thickness) is about half the weight of equivalent glass.
so a 59 lb hatch, subtracting rubber is probably 50 lbs of glass? so lexan ~25ish lbs going back on, net 25 lb loss.
dunno what a windshield weighs.
also, I don't recall the exact numbers but I think the aluminum front NA bumper is under 30 lbs and the rear (shared with turbo) should be slightly less.
those figures are very optimistic.
I have the entire front clip off my NA sitting in my backyard right now. If I have time I can weigh everything. I only have an old bathroom scale though so it's not going to be the most precise.
What I can say is that swapping to the fiberglass 968 hood and fenders with the factory 968 bumper created a very visible reverse-rake. The front on the factory suspension now looks like it's sitting close to an inch higher than it used to. Now I need to lift the rear to match. I'll probably be pulling the front apart again soon to get the headlights installed so I'll weigh the fiberglass parts when I do.
I took the car out to the desert a couple weekends ago to do some rally practice and may have ended up jumping it repeatedly . The rear hatch frame separated and now the glass is popping out. I'm going to replace it with lexan so I can do a weight comparison soon on that too.
Basically You eliminate the things you can and that are EZ.. It also depends on what purpose you have for your car... Street/Track. I haven't had the top of my rear seat in my street car since I got it.. Its totally pointless to me, don't know what it weighs but it sure felt heavy... Im not going to strip out the interior.. but just a simple things...
Now racecar? Totally different story... But by the time I stripped out all the crap, HVAC,gut the doors, on and on... Im right were I need to be.. But as you approach 2750 with a turbo, that's were things cost money instead of "making money"I.E. Selling all your good factory stuff on e-bay... The next thing Im going to do is Titanium Ex... Should be a fun project... Its totally not worth it.. but its fun for me to make stuff like that so Im going to try it.. I know my 4" stainless that I made weighs a ton..

Not really apples to apples. The turbos weighed about 300 lb to 500 lbs more than the 944s (2600 lbs) depending on the year. Now I also do not believe the after market vendors either.
you misunderstood the intent of my post. I was looking for the list so I could plan out my off-season improvements. I was hugely disappointed to see how inaccurate it is.

Here are pic of today’s project. Pulled the windshield out using cutting wire, a razor utility knife, and a lexan scoring tool. 23.5# on my race scales.
