Plastic oil pan baffle doesnt fit! Edit: Fixed!
Small problem here... I replaced the plastic pan baffle with a new one because the old one was cracked and in several parts. The part number on the new one is 944.107.389.03 and it doesnt have the big vertical bit. I dont know what the old one was, but it didnt have the vertical bit, and im pretty sure they looked the same but not positive.
Now the problem is, when I put the pan on with the baffle in, it wont go all the way on, it gets hung up on the pickup pipe. I tested all this with assembly lube, smearing it in various spots to see what touched what. With the baffle removed, the pan seems to drop on and sit fine. From what I can see, my only option is to cut the baffle? Is this baffle meant for the later pans only (without modification)?
The red outlines where its hitting the actual pickup pipe.
I just want to make sure before I go hacking up a pricey bit of plastic. I searched, but couldnt find anything concrete about my problem. 03 isnt in PET6 that I can find either.

944.107.389.03 is for a 968, or at least a 3.0L engine. I can see in your picture that the crank scraper was removed.
I'm not 100% positive on this but I think the pickup tube is slightly more forward in the 3.0L engines. The openings in the baffle are definitely different. Look at the width difference between the two pictures, you'll also notice that the pickup tube relief in the 951 baffle has near vertical walls, the 3.0L ones are angled out.
Bottom line, if you can get it to fit great. If not, just trim what's in the way. Trimming it there will not affect the baffles function.
