The metal bit? The Lindsey Racing Baffle Kit. That part you see is a hinged door on a larger panel that gets welded in. Under hard cornering, the door swings shut to keep more oil around the pickup screen. The pickup screen also gets a strip of metal welded around its sides like a skirt, so it sucks only from the bottom, further reducing the risks of sucking air.

The problem seems to be somebodies coffee intake. They put it together wrong, the swing door is facing the right way, but the main plate is wrong. The notch in the top is supposed to be under the bit in the plastic tray.

But its all fixed now, easy work for an angle grinder... And a few min of much enjoyed revenge on all the new neighbors... Who built their houses.... While I was working the night shift... And half through my sleep hours at 7AM... When the construction crews fired up their diggers and nail guns... Ahhh revenge is good
