Just yesterday, my car did not seem as punchy, and slower to boost. The power is also down a little and feels sluggish compared to how it was running. Boost at the gauge also is down a notch or two.
Other than a pressurized air leak, like at the BO valve, what else couuld be at fault. The reason I ask, is today I was running it hard trying to get it up to full boost trying to get a feel for what is happening and a noticed a different type of smell.
Actually it smells sort of hot, if that makes any sense.

youll still boost pretty well with an air leak, at least mine did when one of the metal nipples on the intake manifold popped off, it just made a lot of noise. too much oil in the motor can cause such a problem - did you just change your oil?

No noise and I did not just change the oil, but am losing some oil somewhere. I will check the intake. Last time I checked it, it was clean.
It smells like something is getting really hot after full boost.
Thanks

a new wastegate and deleting the cat should get rid of this problem and you should be able to hold the boost all the way through your rpm range. Those two things are on my next to do list
i have the same problem you do.

How does it smell hot? Like coolant? Burning oil? Gas? Exhaust? Give it a once over visually for leaks -- check the boots around the intercooler pipes and throttle body especially closely, along with the hoses going to the bypass valve, fuel pressure regulator, and damper.

No it does not smell like any fluids. More like just hot metal if that makes any sense. Maybe a heat shield that is hot. I originally thought that maybe the turbo was binding and the crossover tube was getting very hot, but I can hear it spooling. I guess if the intercooler is clogged that could do it also witht he charge backing up against the compressor wheel. Not sure. I have driven 3 turbo cars. A SVO mustang (very simple) and 2 turbo v8 cars that I built, both also simple. These 951 cars seem a bit finicky to me.
