Measuring the cylinders
I've got the head off and wanted to see if the cylinders are within spec.
Where can I find a internal micrometer to measure the bores?
Has anyone replaced the rings with the engine installed? Any problems?
Thanks

How did you change the rings with the engine still in the car? Did you take out the tranny so pull the crank? I'm about to have my car apart changing the oil pan gasket, don't mean to overtake this thread...

At this point just push the piston up in the cylinder until the rings are exposed and take the old ones out and install the new ones. Tap the pistons back down and reinstall and retorque the head, rod bolts and oil pan. Make sure you keep each bearing with the rod that it was uninstalled with.

I checked prices at snapon.com. Wow even at 50% off they are expensive.
David, I just might have to figure on a drive down to borrow yours if the offer is still good?
Besides I'd like to see you car.
Thanks

David
Sounds good, let me know which day and a time and I'll plan on it.
I've not been on 24 south in awhile so I'll let you pick a place to meet.
Thanks again
