Lug nut to cap off CO test tube?
I tried to cap it with a lugnut off a van. It seemed like it would fit, but It wouldn't turn onto it. Are there different types of lug nuts or a different type of cap for it? This is the hold in the middle of the crossover incase I didnt explain it enough. Anyone know the thread size?

For anyone ever considering modifying their car, do not cut off you emission tube. It is very, very useful for testing certain things - and I am sure Porsche had this partly in mind when they put it there.
The reason will become clear on page 170 of Bell's book, for instance.

the test tube breaks on a lot of cars so it's not always an option to keep it.
A porsche lug nut works. I'll guess that you didn't know that not all lug nuts are the same.

The stock nut on that crosover has a hole in it that can be tapped for a bolt (pull the ferrelled sampling tube out first). I put some hi-temp silicone on the threads of the new bolt and a nut at the base to hold it tightly. This way the CO test device can be attached to the crossover a bit better than if there were a larger access hole after unbolting a lug nut. The stock setup is best but mine was broken and removed.

Heh.. didn't know a lug nut fit on it. Looked a little small to me. Careful using silicone on your exhaust parts before the O2 sensor. Silicone will offgas and plug up the O2 sensor.
My PO welded up the hole in mine and I am currently in the process of installing a thermocouple in it's place. There are a number of uses for the hole, but if you want to cap it off, the ball bearing idea always is a good option.
