How do I check if my car is chipped or not?
Where are these chips that I keep reading about and how do I tell once I take them out if they are not the stock chips?
I'm just curious as the car seems to be very powerful and i'm just not sure if it's supposed to be.
Thanks

Chips in a 951 replace the stock DME and KLR chips. They are in the passenger side footwell. Pull back the carpet under the dash and undo the screws on the board and then the metal frame. There are two computers back there with wiring harnesses attached to them. If you take those apart and see aftermarket chips installed, then you know your car is chipped.
But regarding the whole "more powerful than it should be," that's just a side effect of owning a 951.

How much boost are you making? If you are making 15 lbs (approx 2 bar on the stock gauge) and the car is not cutting out chances are you are chipped already. That is how the chipped cars make more power - by increasing the boost and setting the mixtures and timing accordingly. If you really want to know you can always pull the stock computer but be carefull not to break anything. I think the stock chipped cars only make it up to 1.6 bar on the stock boost gauge (approx 9 lbs)

The car makes 1.8 bar of boost max - I don't think it ever went up to 2 except for the first couple of times when it used to overboost (vacuum leaks)
I guess I just have to accept the fact that the 951 is not a slow car
thanks guys,
