Why I love these cars
I'm a responsible middle aged bald guy. I'm on the way to work this evening doing about 70-75mph in 5th gear on the freeway, minding my own business when this kid in some kind of new looking japanese car i didn't recognize, with a big chromed muffler, pulls up next to me and guns his engine a couple of times and takes off. Traffic was light so I dropped it into third and passed him right after shifting into fourth, doing around 110-115mph. I backed off at about 125-130 down to 70mph again and the guy would not even pull back up next to me. Sometimes you just can't resist.

Agreed on all points. I live in the Maryland mountains where there is just about every kind of road imaginable. In my NA, I lived on the country lanes practicing my heel-toe technique and learning to trust my hands and feet....and ignore that puckering feeling underneath
But in the Turbo S, hunting for ricers on long stretches of mountainous interstate is great sport. Department of Natural Resources should issue a license for it. My experience is that the encounters don't last long. Many ricer cars are well tuned front-drivers but they simply don't have the lungs to come out and play at autobahn speeds. The most outstanding, memorable characteristic of the Turbo S is it's ability to breath in deeply on the fly and jet to 100+ in a heartbeat....which leaves 99% of the cars on the street and many of those on the track wheezing for air.

The boost is indeed intoxicating, almost distorting. Although many enthusiastic and well versed 951 owners concentrate on "launchable" HP, the most amazing feature of these cars is the "second stage" available when other performance cars run out of lungs. I am really looking forward to resuming my track day DE program with the boosted car. I have been having the "time of my life" with a well sorted NA. Can't wait to see how the 951 differs....although I may have to heed the old adage "be careful what you wish for" because I am not exactly Derek Bell to begin with

That's the best part about these cars! When you get on the boost in 3rd it just pulls and pulls all the way until 4th runs out. The acceleration rate almost seems linear from 60-140. I haven't had the chance to run out 5th yet. The only car I've driven that is faster is a Ferrari 550.

I swear my car must be painted infrared. Nobody seems to see it. (Ok ok it spends the VAST majority of the time on jackstands, but still) In three years I can only think of one VW GTi that seemed to even notice me. I passed him and he sped up to get alongside, but didn't act silly like he wanted to race or anything.

After a series of ricers myself...even the scooby doo..the 944T is my favourite car, I love the mid range acceleration to overtake and then the way the previous car disappears in the rear view mirror....loooooong gone

AMEN!!
Sometimes I feel foolish being the middle-age "too fast" guy, but the car does it SO well. I hope those cars in my wake know how much fun I'm having!

I've had plenty of ricers try to race me, I say TRY to race me. Apparently they think, since it's not a new scooby or Evo that its slow. A lot of ricers have no clue what a giant wing does or exactly what a racecar does. I get a lot of ricers looking at my engine and claiming it's a six cylinder, then I tell them all of the factory features, and they say,"naaa uhhh." This car is AWESOME to drive, I would never expect a car to pull as hard as my 951 does in 3rd gear.

I have been using the 951 daily for a few days this week while the weather is really nice. I am amazed at the performance levels of the 951, the car is truly a supercar. I just love throwing it in 3rd and put the gas to the mat! The car absolutely flies!
