Default AIR Front Splitter

Does anyone have an AIR splitter installed on their 951? Is this front Splitter a functional splitter at high speed, deflecting air around the car, preventing it from going under the car thus preventing lift and enhancing high speed stability?

I have the AIR race splitter. It works very well but mounts too low for street use. In fact if you find the grass at the track, it is gone.

Have you noticed that the splitter increases high speed stability?

When on the track, nothing is stable! Tracks with high speed turns like Road America, there was a difference (better) on tracks like Gingerman or Putman, I did not notice that much of an improvement in lap times with the splitter. I will have more data this season as I now have the AIM Mychron DAS to compare data more than "seat of the pants"

Can it mount alongside the original batwing too?

No. It replaces the batwing.

I've had the front AIR Splitter on the track car for years. Just ordered a new one yesterday. As was mentioned, when you go off it may get lunched. I lost mine a couple of weeks ago with an infield off at CA Speedway.

The splitter mounts about 1.5 inches off the track on my car. It is a bit higher on the sides which creates a bit more downforce. When the splitter broke off it forced me to change my line in turn 2 of the nascar oval. The car wanted to push out toward the wall versus staying planted in the front with the splitter.

This is at about 140 MPH.

At $125.00 it's a good deal for a track car. Just be sure to make taking it off and putting it on is easy. I remove mine before going on the trailer.

What is the web address for AIR? $125 is a good deal compared to GT Racing's cost which is more than double.

I've got one. I'd estimate abt 20% aerodynamics, 80% looks....

Race is thinner fiberglass material. Rather than being parallel with the front, it wraps around the sides and has the potential to be mounted lower than the other version. It really does make a difference on my car in high speed turns.

You might be able to see it on my pic.

How does the race type fit attach to the stock front?

Is it easier to manage than the batwing when working on your car?
What color does it come painted in?

I've been looking at getting one of these as well...

they come in either black gel coat or white gel coat. i got mine for $250 shipped with a PCA discount. it mounts just as easy as the batwing once you drill access holes in the bottom.
