Default how high up does your stock car sit?

before i head down to jacksonville, FL for may-dec, im prepping the car to make the trip and fix all the stuff ive been meaning to. i had problems previously with the front sitting high and the back end sagging. turned out the front left shock was frozen in the up position. after replacing all four corners with new Koni Yellows (they needed it anyway), the front still sits high and the back low. and i mean its a real difference, like 2 inches. so i got a few questions:

1) could my springs be non-stock and therefore too tall?
2) what would happen should i cut an inch off of them?
3) how high above the ground are the tops of the lips of your fenders? id like to see how my car compares.

The PO "cut" off spome of the original front springs on the car, let me just say that the car was shaking like an LA earthquake on virtually any speed over 50mph. To make things worse, he lowered the rear by 2" or so

I bit the bullet and replaced the whole front suspention (strust inerst, bushings, mounts etc..) as well as new Weltmiester #200lbs springs w/o spacers. These springs lower the car by 1"-1.25" at the frontr from stock height, also raised the rear by a bit (so that the car looked straight).

If you can hang on for a while, i can measure the exact hight of the front (from ground to lip) and the rear (from ground to??? whatever you like?)

yeah, ground to top of fender lip on both front and rear would be great. how much would just buying the springs cost?

I pulled my stock springs out of my 86 w/60k miles on it 2 months ago. You can have them for $30 plus shipping.

I’ve seen wildly varied ride heights on cars with totally stock components. Both my turbo (’88) and my father’s turbo (’89) sat level or slightly raked to the front, bone stock. Only the ’89 had the ride height adjustable Koni’s, my car had recent Sachs touring struts. All of the other 944’s (2) and 968’s (2) in the family, past and present, sat/sit high in the front, raked to the back. Not 2”, but very very noticeable.

I have pics I can post. The springs I took off the front my car were unaltered and the struts in decent shape. About a 1.5 "finger" gap, fender to stock size tire.

"Most US models came from the factory with positive rake set to the rear... this is due to US bumper height restrictions. The top edge of the bumpers were set to: 522 +/-20mm Rear, 526 +/-20mm Front (533 +/-20mm for S2)."
