Default New Stock Clutch "Wear Limit"

Hey guys
Does anyone know the "wear limit" on a new stock (turbo or turbo s) clutch? The manual gives the wear limit as .2mm, but does not give a measurement for a new clutch. Im just trying to gauge the current wear on my clutch (.7-.9mm).

Basically im looking for the dimension "X" in the pic:

Yeah I have sorta bad timing... I should have measured daniel951's new clutch when it was at my house! But no... I had to forget!

Someone has to have a new clutch waiting for installation... Anyone?

I have a new clutch sitting at home, but I'm not sure the best way to measure it. Let me see what I can do when I get home (maybe tomorrow) if nobody else has been able to help before then.

Thanks Zero!
That would be great... It would be hard to accurately measure it without a mic... But if you had a really precise ruler, you could estimate pretty well.

I think I'll find a small dowel, that fits the hole nicely, push it in, mark the position of the clutch disk on it, and bust out my magnifying glass

I recall looking at my clutch disc, and saying 'Gee, this doesn't seem like a lot of friction material'.
I would estimate it's roughly 1mm without measuring it.

Mine is a turbo cup disc, but I am 99% sure the clutch material is the same as a stock turbo disc.

Sounds good... I don't know why they don't print it in the manuals...

Maybe someone has measured this already and can post it without zero going through the trouble?

Most people just replace them when they start slipping.

My life just got infinately more complicated. I won't be home for a few days. Hopefully within a week I can get some numbers, I hope that's not too late.

This might help, I have a picture showing how little friction material there is, it might serve as a rough guide?

Looking at the pics, I would say it's definately under 2mm.
I'll take a better look at the high res pictures to see if I can get some more accurate numbers.

Upon further review, it looks like the thickness of the material above the flanged rivet is about equal to 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the flanges on the flanged rivet (if that makes any sense). I would estimate that to be about 1.5mm, maybe as much as 1.8-2.0mm.

For comparison, the thickness of the friction disc on my subaru, with it's little 1.8L flat 4 is 4mm from the top of the rivets. I'm surprised how thin our friction discs are.

Hey Stephen what's going on man? I did a search but nothing with your name came up, did you start the thread or reply to one?

Peckster-
I have my clutch out for the engine rebuild, I was just checking to see how much meat is left to see if I want to replace it now or not.

Thanks Zero-
I'm really in no rush... It won't be back together very soon anyway!

Beenz, I did a search but couldn't find anything. I recall getting the numbers from the turbo repair manual.
