Default we need a coordinator for this project (long)

I'm pretty sure that Klearz's head is spinning at the number of requests/questions about these lenses. Already, I notice that some of the pics that are on their website are labeled incorrectly. Let's hold off with all the questions until we can help them define which lenses go to which cars. Once they have a clear definition of this they can post it on the site and then all our questions should be answered.

I'll volunteer to coordinate the pictures for all the different lenses 944, 951, 944S2 and get them to Klearz in an easy to understand format so that they can be posted on the website.

I'll review my photo collection and see what I can come up with.

I'm thinking that this is what I'll need to provide:

944 NA and 944S closeup driver's and pass side photos of:
front turn signals
front corner marker
back corner marker
rear taillight/turn signal/reverse combo lens

951 or 944S2 closeup driver's and pass side photos of:
front turn signals
front corner marker
back corner marker
rear taillight/turn signal/reverse combo lens

Am I correct in assuming that the lenses are all identical for the 944 NA and the 944S?

How about the 951 and the 944S2; aren't their lenses identical to one another?

I realize that the taillights and side markers may be identical on all types of these cars, but I thought it would be wise to separate them just in case so that I could compare.

Additionally, I think there are some here who would want the taillight lens option in different colors and configurations:

option 1 - clear
choose only one option
-top row lenses only
-total taillight lens (all lenses clear)

option 2 - smoked
choose only one option
-top row lenses only
-total taillight lens (all lenses smoked)

option 3 - red
-top row lenses only (makes all lenses red)

I'll try to get this done tonight.

Rick

I would be interested in a all clear tail light option but would need to see pics and be advised how the coloured light would be handled, ie LED kit or coloured bulb etc.

Default Re: question about clear taillights and LED's vs. colored bulbs

Bulbs/lighting is up to you...

This company only supplies lenses....no bulb conversions. This would be up to you to figure out. I've seen others (a picture exists in this very thread) that used colored bulbs for the turn signals. As always, check your local laws for your specific application.

How many deposits do you have so far for the side marker lights. I want to order front and rear. If you only need a couple I will send two deposits. I can also send in the lenses if they have not already been sent.

Well I have not seen red coloured bulbs for the tail light, I have clear lenses all round barring the tail light.

So, is anyone familiar with a buld (LED or otherwise) that will fit in our socket type?

Default NZ: google

I have seen red LED taillights for sale on the internet...just google and you'll find several.

I don't know how good/bad they look though

Ones that fit the 951 socket? Do you have a link?

just wanted to chime in and say there is no place to say we have interest in the rear sidemarker lens...

but the front sidemarker lens...it is the same for all 944 and 951 models. also, the rear sidemarker lens is the same for all 944 and 951 models. only the front turn signal differs between the 944 and the 951 style bodies.

Default NZ951: see link below

A search of google turned up more than 120,000 possible matches.

Here's one that looks promising:

It would be helpful if you knew the number of the bulb that you would want to replace though.

What they will need is a NEW and unblemished lens of each type planned for clear duplication. This will be used as a master, from which to make a two piece female mold. That's the hard part. Then, with the molds made, they just pour or inject the acrylic or other plastic material, which is premixed with catalyst/hardener and dye (if desired). Then, they can crank out clear copies like Carter's makes pills.

Whatever flaws or blemishes are on the master will be duplicated on the copies. So, don't send them some grungy p.o.s. that you got from a junkyard, lest you get a grungy clear p.o.s. for your money. Better to send perfect brand new-in-the-box amber lenses from Zims or Paragon.

Once they have the master and make molds from it, reproducing clear copies can be done VERY inexpensively. That's why yesterday I suggested extrapolating the priceline to a bulk sales price a LOT lower than it is.
