944 Turbo Headlight Upgrade?
Does anyone know what type / brand of headlight is a good, safe, upgrade for a 1987 944 turbo, without changing relays, wiring, etc and without risk of burning up wiring and existing relays?

JC Whitney has decent Euro H4 lamps, but their bulbs are crappy. A couple of the JC Whitney lamp assemblies are about $45, add some decent H4/9003 bulbs from the local auto parts store and you will have a huge increase in useable light without rewiring.

I have Hella H4s and got some good bulbs from an off-road store (maybe 55/100W?)
They are great! Just make sure you follow the directions for aiming them so you don't blind people. If you're not familiar with European lenses, they have this horizontal cut-off above which not much light at all shoots out, if you have them adjusted right they are awesome.

Without doing anything about wiring you are going to leave a lot of light output on the table no matter what lenses and bulbs you get. Lose just 15% of voltage and output drops 50%. Other way around, eliminate just 15% of voltage drop and you double light output.
That said, you want to go E-Code lenses. Keeps more light on the road where you need it rather than directed at the stars signaling ET. So, just about any lens Sylvania makes is out as they are DOT code. Quality glass and metal E-Code lenses will last forever unless you crack them with a rock or road sand blast them too bad as you can just change out bulbs when they burn out. So you can go with quality lenses that will cost you north of $100 a pair, and extra for the bulbs, or with lower quality that don't have as good a beam pattern or construction. I know people that bought cheap lenses, ran overwatt bulbs in them ..... the glass lens face fell off due to the heat.
Then there are bulbs. But I have to run.

I'm using Sylvania Silver Stars and they're great. I think Pep Boys sells them for around $20 each and it's a quick, easy replacement. Of course, provided that you don't lossen the adjuster bolts!

I'll third the Sylvania Silver Stars. Not as nice as IceSharks awesome light cannons, but much much better than the stock 18 year old lights that were in there (then again a candle stuck up a rats "you know what" would have provided more light than stock).
As for interior lights - someone tell me if all German engineers are blind!

I'm not too impressed with DOT Silverstars, but E codes and H4 bulbs are great even without overwattage bulbs and upgraded wiring. Much much brighter and more useable light.

Iceshark, You might want to start a thread making that clear. Lottsa bad blood in that direction, as you probably know. Just a suggestion.
Also do you produce a euro driving light set up, that can be used as a substitute for the head lights. We have no inspections here, and i want to delete my head lights. TIA PM me with this when you get a chance.
To stay on topic Icesharks stuff has a stellar rep. Spend the money. E
