Default Best shop in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to have motor machining done?

I am looking to rebuild one of my 86 motors to have a fresh motor to install. I am looking for a shop in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (probably Dallas) that someone has already used and can give a good report on also any bad reports on shops will be good as to stay clear of.
Thank you

Well there are several shops that can do it. I dont know if perry(family porsche mechanic with a place over off of Forest Ln) would have the time to rebuild a motor. He might I would have to ask. Perry does great work and has never done us wrong on any porsche or bmw.

How about eurowork's(?) over off coit and the tollway. I dont know if david is still there but, he was always good. Although I dont know what they would charge or who runs that outfit anymore.

Oklahoma city isint that far away might I suggest Lindsey racing. Shipping there isint that bad and their service is top notch. I have no idea what they would charge you or a time frame but, if I know dave and his crew they bust their ***** to make sure things are right and on time. You wont find a better tuner in the south I promise you that. I would go to lindsey before I go down the street to some of the local dallas 951 tuners and, that my friend is one strong statement.

Don Istook is THE person to see in that area. Not only a stand up guy but VERY knowledgable about the 944 series.

If you need closer to Dallas Norwood does good work, bring your accountant and first born however.

Don's definitely the 944 guy around here. He's a bit of a drive from Dallas, but I think it would be worth it. He's been into MANY 944 motors and knows his way around very well. He's an honest straight-shooter, and his rates are very good.

I will 3rd (or fourth) Don Istook. He used to race 944 series and knows them well. In fact, I was there last week and he just bought a ver nice 88 Turbo S Silba Rosa the he plans to work on for himself. He always is straight and has very good rates.

I am in S Arlington so Istooks will probably work well for me. I also know a 914 guy who has said a lot of good things about him.
I just want usual valve job on the head (for a 87 head I want to resale) and maybe the same for my 86 head.
John you are certainly correct about Lindsey I had them do a level one on my current in car 86 motor and was please with the job. I was just wanting to avoid the shipping cost. Dave really took the time to answer all my questions and still does.
I also want to get the 87 and 86 blocks cleaned up I really dont want to have a big mess all over the place. Much easier to haul a dirty block over somewhere close and say "please clean this mess up and make it purty"
Thanks for your help guys.

Dave - you might post a new thread here with DFW swap meet in the title. You could also post one on the Central US Region forum to get the attention of some of the other Porsche fans on Rennlist.

I haven't been able to get to a swap meet in a while, but I'm going to try to make this one. I know it's 5 days away, but the Weather Channel says that it's going to be 74 and sunny... couldn't ask for much better weather!

Don Istook gets my vote! If you are close to him, there is no other choice...

One more plug for Don Istook (his phone number is 817-332-6547, btw). Any work that I don't want to do on my Porsches is done by him, even tho I have to transport my cars almost 500 miles to get them to him. Fortunately for me, that doesn't happen much anymore.

Don has given me more advice and taught me more about 944's than any other single source, and is, in my opinion, one of the absolute best in the US, if not the world, for working on a 944 series car. If you are lucky enough to get him to work on your car, you are lucky indeed!

Regards,
