I also got it for Christmas, from my daughter. I enjoyed it, not a good read but it's fun reading about someone who blew a lot more on a car than I did for the same reasons!
And to you guys who don't do you own labor: ouch!
I wouldn't own one of these cars if I had to pay some other guy to do all the work. What fun is that? Actually, I'm too cheap. If I couldn't do the labor and didn't have a shop, I'd be out of the Porsche game altogether.

I do some of my own work, but for the more involved things (or if I just don't have time) I take it to my mechanic. Of course, when your mechanic is a guy like Tom Charlesworth, it tends to make up fot he money you spend with him. Part of the enjoyment of owning a Porsche is sitting around talking to Tom, so taking my car to him for maintenance occassionally gives me a good excuse to hang out in his shop.

Bought my 71K car for $9500 and have spent $5500 in parts and labor over the past 3 years. Its 100% stock except for the SFR exhaust, 993 Cup 2 wheels / Dunlop R tires. In the long run, I'm going to do more of my own maintenance, thanks to the collective wisdom and experience of Rennlist.
