Well I got mine 1 year ago, the prior owner ran an auto detailing shop, exterior near perfect, interior perfect, drive train 95000 miles. I was real lucky, the colors I wanted, it came with freshly polished porsche wheels, new rubber, new clutch, Autothority MAF setup, Alpine sound system. But I still found plenty to buy/repair/upgrade.
1. Tune up parts wires plugs etc say $225.
2. Replace BOV $40.
3. Oil cooler seals, $20 and 6 horrible hours to install.
4. Water pump + belts and rollers $350.
5. Gtech Meter $50
6. Radar Detector $100.
7. Rebuild PS pump $15, 2 hours easy job.
8. Lower temp thermostat and Fan switch, $40.
9. Boost enhancer $60.
10. All the water hoses $150.
11. All Vac Lines, $40.
12. Turbo water pump relay, $35 Ebay.
13 HVAC head unit, $125 EBAY.
14. Gauge pod + Boost and A/F Gauge, $180.
15. Tranny fluid $30.
16. Hood struts $25.
17. Recover steering Wheel $55.
18. 4-5 things I forgot $200.
19 . New fuel lines $150.
20. 3 Bar FPR $50.
21. Replace injector seals clean etc. $20.
22. New coil $35.
23 Over flow tank $125.
24 Strut bar $175


And I still need to work on.
1. Sunroof, 50-50 chance it will not work.
2. A/C, I may delete this I never use it anyway.
3. Brake Lines.
4. remove cat.
5. Get euro fog/driving lights.
6. Install WG shim kit.
etc etc etc

But I love this car, its a blast to drive, the only car's that come close to this IMHO are the WRX sti "ugly" and the 350Z "not ugly" but both run over $30k for the good ones. And they dont need to be worked on "Thats the fun part". 7-8 years from now I can see a 2002-2005 350Z in the garage with a nice greedy turbo kit but my 951 will still be parked right next to it.

you can add a new fuel line(Hard that goes to teh fuel filter shaped kinda like a j) to my total plus I rental car I have to use. so lets see that aleast another 150

I win. Got mine for 3000$, spent 50$ for oil/oil filter when i changed oil. Gotten over 7,000 miles on it.
Although the car was prolly worth more like 8-10k, i got very lucky since i knew the guy. Doesnt hurt that hes a country singer and didnt need the money either.

Also stonecreek dont bother with 350z. lightly modified 350z vs stock 951, 951 is much faster. Its been tested.

We got mine for like $8000 when the market was high in late 00'. I/my dad have spent like $6000 probably. But I track my car almost exclusively. So, that is pretty cheap. I am so sold on the 951. I am definately either club racing this one or getting another one that is already prepped. It isn't cheap to go fast :-).

Uh, not for long... if you dont start doing maintainance, its going to pile up on you... these cars are not get in and drive cars, fix it when it breaks. they are fix it, it could break cars.

Ain't that the truth. I bought a "project" 928 for $4500 that had a great engine, transmission, suspension and brakes...everything else was falling apart. The thing ran great, but a year and $5200 later and I sold it for $4500. I hate math.

So I bought a 951 this time, very careful about what I bought. Every single maintenance item has been done, lots of nice mods, got it for a great price. Now I'm down for a cam tower gasket. Hey at least my parts expenditure is less than twenty bucks so far! (knock on wood)

I bought my 951 in March 2001 an put about $7k into the first year. Granted most of it was labor but I had all the basic maintenance redone in that first year.

Eyal, I got you beat. 2500 miles since Oct' 03 and over $25K invested so far. It's for sale, too.

I paid $12k for mine with 59,000 miles on it and all major service recently completed.

I had one hose get cut by a piece of debris on the road which cost me $125 to fix.
I had the clip on the heater control arm break....$3.
I had a sun visor clip break...$6.
I just had an oil change done for around $60.

That's it. Any other money I've spent on it has been to enhance what was already there....nicer wheels and tires, nicer steering wheel, new hood badge.
I simply chose to spend the money up front.

Experience, priceless." A few people got, most didn't. This book is for the people who Get it.


Unfortunately, the flap was the best part of the book, but did you know that the air cooled guys think that thier odometer gears get stripped by doing the reset while the car is moving - I thought that was a 944 thing....;]

That book is awesome. My wife got if for me for Christmas as a kind of joke, but I really enjoyed it.
