Default Another Suspension Question??

Alright this is one more suspension question for the Archives. I searched and would just like a little bit more clear of an answer, and some first hand experience responses would be nice. Soon here I am getting new Koni yellow shocks all around. Originally I was gonna get new torsion bars and springs but the funds ran out for T-bars. So I am looking at getting a set of the Weltmiester lowering springs. My question is which rate should I go with, The 200lbs or the 250lbs springs. I am running 225/45 up front and 245/45 out back. I read in one of the old threads that someone thought with the 250lbs springs that the car understeered. I would really like to go with the stiffer springer but I dont want to sacrifice handling. Can someone tell if the car still handles well the 250lbs springs up front without changing anything out in the rear!!!
WantedIf anyone does happen to have a set of torsion bars or springs that they would be willing to let go for a decent price let me know

I would say it's difficult to give you the exact answer as there are few cars that handle 100% identically (weight variations, state of bushings, geometry set-up, etc, and driver feel !).

Perhaps you could precise first wether you are getting single or double adjustable Koni Yellows.

Umm single or double, sorry I didnt realize there was this option. I was going to purchase off of Paragon Products if that means anything to anyone. I have no upgraded bushings or anything of that sort. Basically I just want to know if the 250lbs springs wil make the car still handle descent without understeering!

Jason at Paragon recommended 250 pound front springs max for a street car without changing rear. That is what I purchased from him and it worked fine including driving DEs.

250's can work, but may cause understeer. How much and how bad is function of your sway bars, alignmnet, ride height and driving perference. For some it is really bad, for others it is just fine.

When it comes to suspension there are few definite answers.

If I could get a larger springrate than 250lb for my car I would, too much front end dip under braking and I'm rubbing the batwing on the ground during auto-x. How much of a difference do the 250lbs springs make compared to stock as far as body roll?

Well stock springs are 150 to 160 lbs or so . Turbo S springs at 175lbs I think.

I almost bought some weltmeister 250lbs springs, but my computer got fried like KFC and put me out $450 in September. I don't know why Porsche put such weak springs on this car. I drove my friend's 85.5 944 and the thing had virtually no lean and claimed that it was stock.

What are you using now ? My AIR splitter is about 3 inches off the ground and I don't rub with 200lb springs.

Hi David,
How does the 200lbs spring feel like ? I'm running
300 but I feel that it's to stiff to daily use. What about
the rears ? What rate are you running now ?

I like the feel, firm but not too fim for street use and works well for DE's. Rears are Koni yellows, stock t-bars and 968 MO30 sways.
