Default Rich smell at idle... Actually VERY RICH! Where to start?

Have a 87 951 with Autothority chips, and no cat... nothing else. Runs terribly rich at idle, I have not hooked up an A/F meter yet but there is a very strong smell from the exhaust at idle. I have recently replaced the FPR. So what do you guys think? O2 sensor?

Thanks in advance
P.S. the car runs strong and smooth otherwise, indicates peak 1.95 bar on OE gauge.

Air Filter clean? I'm thinking that the new FPR might have allot to do with it also. Sure it isn't burning oil or is it a very distinct smell of gas.

Def. gas smell, the FPR was replaced after completely failing, letting gas into the vaccuum lines... The mileage is also horrible are these symptoms of o2 gone bad?

Default A/F Results (narrowband only)

OK just hooked up a narrowband autometer a/f meter.. the o2 sensor seems to be working. At idle it sweeps from no lights to almost the last yellow light and back down. Under boost shows up to the second green. Are these good readings (i know you need a wideband to really tune, I just want to know if it is running way too rich) what should I check next? can the missing catalytic converter be causing the rich idle smell?

Pulled the plugs, all the same color, brownish.. they are relatively new, changed them after the FPR got replaced, they were very black then. What is the normal MPG and how should the A/F gauge look? is the sweeping normal at idle?

My current and prevoius cars always smelled like they were overfueling at idle, even when the idle mixture was ****-on.

I have the same rich smell on idle too, I have no cat or o2 sensor (euro) had it emmision tested and it passed. dont get as good fuel economy as my my last 87 turbo. but i think thats the cause of having no o2 sensor.

Does anyone have a clean smelling 951? Is there hope for any of us? Hate having my clothes smell like exhaust after getting out of the car.

You and me both and taking people for rides is not exactly fun with the windows down or the recirc not on. Oh well I have learned to accept it.

My N/A smells much richer at idle than my Turbo. Hardly noticable on the Turbo unless I have it backed in the garage.

I've had to replace my rear hatch seal as the old shrunk up and and left exhaust gas get sucked in the back while cruising especially with one window down. Also make sure both hatch latches are adjusted properly and holding it tight as vacuum above car will try to lift it. That worked for a while but I seem to be getting a little smell again lately...

Yep, with a cat very little smell except cold starts. No cat tons of smell all the time.
