Depends on the rods.
Carillo made rods that would clear, I haven’t tried a stock set of Pauter but I think they might also.
The problem area is the rod nuts against the inside of the girdle. If you look at a 3.0 block you can see the extra clearance added to that design.

Chris,
Thanks for the heads up. Basically what your saying is that if I get the Carillo rods with the S2 or 968 crank, I will have enough clearance?

...or you could just send me the 3.0l crank if that makes things easier.

I believe both the Carillo and Pauter rods that Lindsey sells will work. They have them on their site listed as stroker rods. You could email them since they sell both.

Yep, you should be good. When you order them from a vendor make sure you specify what you need them for.

Awesome to hear,
This is a project in the works but I should be at that point in a month or two. Chris, you will be the first to know because you'll have a crate with my block in it at your door step begging for those sleeves. Thanks again for all the info and I will let you know when I am ready for the sleeves.

Is it possible to machine a block that previously had sleeves to work with your sleeves?

Depends on the OD of the sleeves used. Some will work some will not.

I posted this in another 3.0L thread but here's a pic of a 3.0L crank with Carillo rods in 2.5L blcok - this was jwl's 2.8L conversion that we built. So you can see what Chris is talking about with the rod bolts.

I have Pauter rods on my 2.8 so I thought I would weigh in. The crank girdle needs to be clearanced for the Pauters as well. I have a pic just like Bret's for illustration, only my crank has been Knife edged. Bret - I've been meaning to ask you/JWL. We have similar engine configurations and I have been thinking about getting rid of the Lindsey Super 75/10P and picking up a Vitesse Stage 4. I'd probably buy the new one selling here on Rennlist. Do you by any chance have a dyno graph on that motor? Can you share JWL's opinion on the turbo?
Thanks
Paul

Paul, he has not dyno'd it, as he is still busy with big industrial jobs from Hurricane Katrina and Rita but should be finished in a month or two and he's taking a vacation Maybe he can get it done then.

I've driven it and the "butt dyno"...it feels more powerful than the track car above 4800 rpm all the way to redline, it's hard to say with the track car being 351/hp-347/torq but only weighing 2500#...I would guess 370-380 at the 17psi he's presently got it tuned to, 3rd gear just pulls like a train! He's thrilled with it and he's on chips not chipboard.
