tightened the lower balance cover without the bracket at the front. Bolt wouldn't go in all the way, and I didn't realize why at the time. so the fu&^er cracked at the front when I tried to tighten down the bolt.

John,

Sorry to hear about the misfortune. I have an '87 shortblock on my stand now going together, fresh hone, 1st over pistons, Mahle bottom rings, Total Seal top ring, Std/Std crank (mag/straightened/polished), reconditioned rods, ARP hardware, DFL coated brgs, new OE studs ready to go in. Let me know if you are interested. Could ship Monday.

John, There is a good chance you might be able to weld the crack... Find a GOOD welder and they can do it without removing the engine... Take few pictures if you can

PM's sent.

I'm not going to mess with welding, a whole chunk is cracked off by the oil pump.

Thanks
