turbo plumbing
Wouldn't moving the turbo and its plumbing to the left side closer to the manifold eliminate some lag? The problem is theres no room for in on the left side correct? I remember reading some posts about somone doin this and the cut the firewall and what not just to fit it.

Actually, the turbo is on the other side in the 924T, but apparently the Turbo dosen't last as long due to the higher temperatures the turbo is exposed to since it is so close to the exhaust manifold (I read this somewhere, but cannot recall the source at this time).

Yep. The Callaway setups do this, hanging the turbocharger directly off a custom-designed manifold. The spool times are considerably faster, although the turbos have to be rebuilt more frequently as well. I'll be ducting some extra air from a vented 931 header panel that way to help with cooling, I've already converted to 6-blade (more airflow) fans and will be adding an external oil cooler and after-oiler to increase turbo life.
I have several pictures of the setup, literature from Callaway, etc. if you're interested.

The Callaway turbo is an IHI-6B, so it's a reasonably small turbo, I think only slightly larger than a k26 (although the actual impellers are larger). I believe you could mount a larger one without too much problem, but I'd have to mock it up and take some measurements (most of the piping and the turbo are at Danno's right now where he's checking some things out on it). As soon as I get it back, I'll check the clearances and post 'em though (I'm kind of curious to know what the future upgradeability of it is myself. . .)
