what he said...then drive 600 more miles. Aftter that, you may begin to have a case. Brake pads wear into a "zone', where they are at their best. If it doesn't happen, switch to something else. Good luck. I wouldn't change mine until they get too worn. At that point, I'll be irratitated until the new ones get in the zone. Then I'll feel as confident as I do now. Good Luck. Happy holidays! E

You would be better off with Hawk-HP-PLUS run those on my VW great pad for street, and maybe some DE's.

On my 951 Pagid orange no fad with these.

I agree. I've run the Hawk HPS, HP plus as well as Pagid Orange, Jurid etc. The HP Plus were the best by far. I've had the HPS on two different cars and they had terrible fade. The HP Plus are great on the street, were plenty during DE's with zero fade, and after the first 1,000 miles are fairly quiet. They are quite dusty.

Thumbs up

I had the Porsche #951 351 041 00 pads installed. They are made by Pagid with a Porsche label on them. Car stops real fine!

OE would almost certainly be the best. I have OE on the 951 and just put Mintex on the 944. They seem fine thus far. I will probably switch back to OE once these ones die though.

OE's were really nice tooling aroung town with great initial bite, quiet operation, easy on rotors. The only probem with them was the extrme fade that I had when hard stopping from triple digits. Under 125 it wasn't bad but after 130 it was flat out scary. Not a good choice if you do DE's on a track that builds speed or has a lot of braking areas.

No kidding? I thought the OE pads were designed especially for that. First I've heard of significant fade with them. . . Maybe it's a combination of factors like bad / old fluid, pads, etc?

i still gotta say that porterfield pads beat all other pads regardless of price.

-no fade
-no dust
-silent
-easy on rotors
-stops on a dime, even when cold
-cheap! (only $80 per axle)

http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/pads.html

the one to get is the r4-s

edit: i am not affiliated with porterfield in any way other than being a happy customer.

They are a few months old but this was the first time driving on a twisty road (none in Michigan). They should be broken in after a few thousand miles, unless they need some extreme heat to get them to bed in and in that case I still would try to avoid them for hard use

however they do not make noise and are REALLY clean so If you want a stock replacement then they are ok.

I have Mintex C-techs in the front and stock in rear...the fronts are noisy but catch good when cold and slow speeds but man do I love them at high speeds!!!

Jeremy is right. OE pads don't work well on a track with lots of braking with a fast driver. Tons of fade. Great for the street though.

oe's are great for low-speed braking, but if you try stomping on them at +150mph to get the car to stop completely, it's scary. i don't think many people have tried going from 150-0 on the oem pads, so they probably don't realize this.

Of course, fast drivers don't use lots of braking...
