Default Clutch disk wear limit

Anyone know what the wear limit is on the standard sachs 944T clutch disk?
I couldn’t find it in any of the manuals. I’m replacing it either way, but I wanted to know how bad it really was, and it will help me decide if I need to replace the pressure plate.

Thanks

I've never found any method other than how far the slave cylinder rod travels in the inspection hole. This travel is directly dependent upon the wear in the clutch surface. My clutch disc at failure (161K miles) still had at least 30% left on the PP side and about 20% on the FW side compared to the new disk. Even the Tech specs don't mention a lining thickness range like on a brake pad.

i also found this for the N/A clutch but tolerances should be similar.

4. Check liner thickness of drive plates:
Drive plate with riveted liner: Relaxed thickness: 8.1mm +/- 0.3mm
Relaxed wear limit: 6.3mm for symmetrical wear

Thanks 2tight, unless someone has the specs for the turbo disk, I'll just go with the NA specs. Hopefully they are close.

The engine is removed already so the inspection hole method won't work, besides that I don't see how it can be very accurate.

John,
I also found this on the turbo clutch if that helps any. I'm assuming x is the rivet head to disc surface measurement even though it only shows the extension lines.

Thanks again. Is that chart from the NA manual?

I'm getting about 8.7mm total relaxed thickness so my guess is the turbo disk is somewhat thicker, or I had a relatively new clutch.

I’ll have to check the rivet depth next.

That chart is straight out of the turbo supplement.
