Default Car just died, I need some help

Here's the situation:

I was coming back from school and the car was running fine, so I'm about 2 miles or so away from home and I WOT on a straightaway to beat the light and the car wasn't moving. It was making like 10 or so lbs of boost, than the car would jerk heavily. This only happened when I went WOT. I kept trying WOT and it hesitated for a second or two than started jerking erraticly. So now I'm a mile away, I try one more time, and it does the same thing. So I put it in first gear and I try pressing on the gas, and the car isn't moving . I try pressing on it again and the car isn't moving. You can hear the turbo, but the car is not moving at all. I hit the light, car stalls. I crank it, starts up, dies. I crank again, and I press on gas to keep it going. I try letting out the clutch, and the car just stalls in the middle of the intersection. After getting help from a homeless guy to push it up in a parking lot I pop the hood and try checking whats wrong. I checked the fuel pressure guage and its around 40psi, so I try cranking it and nothing except for the tachometer jumping. I try again tachometer jumps, and everytime the the starter clicks the tachometer jumps a bit higher. Now the car won't start for some reason. I can also smell a light odor of gas during each crank so it must mean gas it getting to the injectors right?

What do you guys think is it?

Check your hoses on the pressure side. You probably blew a hose!!!

i had same trouble move around injector connections...the wires under the boots near the clips can touch and short out the whole system. I could kill the engine by just pressing on one of the boots. Replaced them from parts at napa and no more bad wires.

Yeah, sounds like an intercooler hose, or the big fat hose coming out of the turbo blew.

I parked my car and it wouldn't start after it had sit for a month or so,I was getting fuel but no spark.I saw a post from Claus Groth about it being the klr box, in his case.I had a spare, plugged it in and she fired right up, so I would check for spark.

wow kinda sounds like what happened to mine, but mine died instantly.

Mine never stuttered before it just up and died. It stuttered the night before. I'd get into it, WOT and it would stutter, let off, get back into it and it was fine again. The next day, i got into it, not WOT, about 1/2 and it just up and died. Fell flat on its face. I havn't had much time to mess with it nor know where to start. The sad thing is, no one around has spare parts, i'd either have to order new or find somone.

If somone can help me, please PM me. I'd like to take her out one last time before the snow comes and stays.

It was a bit dark but I checked the hard pipes and everything seemed fine. I'm really hoping you guys can help me out on this so I don't have to tow it to a mechanic.

Also, I had a chance to get the car downhill, so I slipped it into first, popped the clutch, car started for a hot second, I tried to press the gas and get it going and it wouldnt move it would just die.

It was weird, I was boosting not too long before the problems happened, than all of a sudden it happened.

Any more ideas?

Try doing the spark test first. If theres sparks
than like you said check the DME relay. Lets
hope that it is'nt the DME.

My .02 cents :

* check if you get some fuel on the injectors (disconnect one or two)
* check if you get some ignition (spark plug removed but connected, be careful with this however)
* try to get a DME relay and change it, it's cheap and may be the problem (common)
* with a friend, look at the timing belt when you try to start the car (using the small hole near the camshaft). If it doesn't move, you have a serious pb...

PS: for most of these operations, it's better to be two (one to start the car, and the other to look what happens under the hood)

Hope this help

Hey Asarus,
Yeah you reminded me of this sage that I had a cuple of months
ago. Was cruising in heavy tracffic at about 50 kph. Sunddenly
engine just died on me. Drop the clutch & let it roll to the side
of the road. Crank the engine nothing, fuel check o.k, sparks no
sparks, I thought my MSD had died on me, suddenly when I look
through the timing belt hole, no belt. I was cursing, swearing cause
the belt was replaced 10 months ago. While the car was towed to the
workshop I was praying that the piston did not hit the valves. Thank
god after belt install, did a compression test, everything seems O.K.
So, guys always check your belts & never assumme that just because
it's new, nothing can go wrong.

Could it be the fuel filter? Located in the rear of the car?
