Default 951 Hitch

I am looking for a light hitch setup for the 951 that will allow me to tow a small tire trailer to auto x and track events. What have others done in the past to solve this problem?

Thanks,
~Eric

I was flipping through the Factory Service Manuals last week. I'm pretty sure I found a factory option tow bar assembly for the 944, not sure about the 951. It might have been in the Pelican website 944 technical parts diagrams (under miscellaneous or accessories) as well. Might be easier than trying to fabricate something from scratch.

Quite honestly a hitch on a Porsche visually fits as well as a front-mounted winch would. But my insatiable curiosity led me into Walmart yesterday and I didn't see a Porsche-specific application their book. Any additional information Danno?

I don't have this hitch yet, but I've got a part# at home. I'm gonna pick it up since I can't imagine I can make anything like that in a cost/time-effective manner. My guess is that it's similar to all the other Class-1 hitches out there with a bracket that bolts to the spare-tire well, bolts up to the bottom of the bumper and sticks a tongue out between the bumper and rear valance. Without a ball on the tongue, it won't be noticeable at all. If I spray-paint the tongue flat-black, it'll be more stealth and may actually match the paint scheme of my white car.

Eric,
I want to do the same thing. Let me know what you come up with.

What trailer do you have, or are you looking at getting? I'm looking at one from Harbor Freight.

Was just going to say, DaLan makes one for the 944. I believe it's the same brand UHaul sells.

The one from Walmart is similar. But instead of attaching to the bottom of the spare-tire well:

I think the tongue is straight and the bracket at the end is vertical. So it bolts up to the vertical rear wall of the spare-tire well. It think the costs is something like $50.

Yeah, I got the Harbour Freight one too. Only catch is it comes in this really bright red color, yuck! I'm gonna paint it black..
