Default 89 944 turbo were they all S's

This may sound like a stupid question, but were all 944 turbos in 1989 S's?

Thanks

They had the same components as the 88 turboS, just dropped the "S" designation in MY89.

They were spec'd the same as the 1988 turbo S, but they were JUST a 1989 turbo. ABS, LSD, and a hardened 1st, 2nd, gear plus mainshaft were all standard. others may have more info...

Also, 88 turbo Ss came EXCLUSIVELY in the silver rose with the plad interior if im not mistaken. However, 89 turbos came in all options.

Sorry Kesepton.. 88TS's came in other colors than "silberosa".. The first batch was silver rose with that highly desirable plaid interior.. then they made a batch with less desirable colors.

I believe thet also had beefier front spindles, Koni adjustable shocks, and the 928S4 rotors and calipers, as did the 88 S.

The breaks are 4 piston caliper Brembos. The same as the 928S4 and they stop you NOW!!!

The Trubo S was really just the next stage of the 944T's evolution. Some refer to them as the '88.5 Turbo so the '89 is just the continuation of that model. The only reason that Porsche killed it was that it didn't like it's "economy" line competing with marque 911Ts and 928s (even though they stickered at about $50K). Plus the S2 had a smoother power delivery and additional low end torque to made it a more friendly daily driver.

The real reason Porsche killed the Turbo series in the U.S. after 1989 is that it didn't sell! Sales in '89 were dreadful. Dealers were offering 20% discounts to move them off their lots and it was still a tough sell because the Japanese competition was priced far lower.
