I'm hoping to keep it under $200, depending on the materials it could be cheaper. The hardware and carpet is what will drive the cost. My labor and wood will be reasonable.
I might make 2 versions.
One like in the bottom picture, a fixed shelf with cubbie holes.
Another with the lift up lid as discussed in the opening post.

It's a go, plan on seeing some prototypes after Thanksgiving.
Thanks for the interest.

Small update:
For progress there must be sacrifice. I dismantled an extra rear seat back today, mainly to get the steel hinge brackets off, for my prototype. So if anyone wants to re-upolster their black seatback, contact me I've got one that has no rips, as I managed to get the vinyl and foam off intact.

I also found a supplier for OEM carpet, so I will be able to match ours exactly, in all colors. Well aside from the fact that it will look new and not sunfaded.

I should be mostly finished with the sample by the end of Thanksgiving weekend, stay tuned.

Still wondering if we could order one. Yes yes, insane price, but I'm curious.

Maybe one of our Rennlist members that has a 968CS could look and see if they can find a part# on it.
Please take LOTS of pictures if they do.

I've made a little progress:
I've gotten hold of a CS owner in the UK that is going to take a bunch of pictures for me.
I've sent off requests for pricing of all my materials (CNCcut panels, OEM carpeting, conecting hardware).
I'm finished with the panel shaping, I just need to get some carpet and fab some brackets. I'm waiting for the pictures before I assemble the first one. I really want to make a replica of the CS one first. The plan is to build them as factory correct as possible.

Thanks,
Jason

Excellent work Jason, I have been thinking of taking out the back seats and doing the harness thing with race seats, that would be a perfect part to add!

Jason,
I'm in for certain. I was just trying to figure out who can do this for me. What I want to do is use the space as a platform for additional sound equipment. I don't want to do anything crazy, (I think people who rattle my fillings with their bass,at stop lights, are the best argumnet against gun control.) but it would be nice to have a surround sound system that actually surrounded the cockpit. Once you get a bit more specific in your design, please post some more. I was thinking it would be helpful to see a bit more. 200.00 or so is very reasonable IMO. What would the cost be if you sold one w/out carpet? I'm about to have the whole interior redone in leather. hmmm....leather. Maybe the box too. YES!!! Anyway, keep us informed. Thank you. Elliott

additionally, will you be able to add hardware that would allow us to use a rear cargo cover? or is the design different than I'm thinking?

Without carpet could be availible, as well as using 3/4" MDF instead of the lighter plywood, if your thinking speakers.

The cargo cover I've seen in photos for the club sport is mounted inthe back and unrolls forward. It then clips on to where the seats latch to.
I suppose you could remove the existing cargo cover and remount it in the back....as seen here:

One suggestion, I would like it if the top edge was pulled back a bit to allow the seat to recline a bit further back. How hard would that be to accommodate, and is anyone else interested in the same thing?

Regards,

Scott,
You mean having the front face at a backwards tilt, and the top shorter from front to back?
At this stage in the game I can design a few versions. I'll add that one to my list.
Thanks for the idea.
Jason
