Default WAYYY Off Topic but i had to share (lots of pics)

Well, living in Dubai, it's extremely hot here during summer (we got a highest of 149F!!) Anyways, 1 hours a go i heard some thunder, looked outside and i saw this :

Winds were so strong that they flipped the table set in my balcony (4th floor):

Notice the lightning strike at the bottom left:

It never hails here but it did!!

And finally, my car hiding and dry

That's some serious hail for someplace that never hails -- maybe it's a sign....

Notice how the table was thrown to the edge of the balcony. You may laught at this (and anyone who reads this) but it's so cold outside that water vapour is coming out of my breath, you guys in cold parts of the US and virtually all of you European guys get that, but we don't It's like ~ 60F which is cold for this tiem of year, we get that in Jan or so.

Oh man, you know how it gets there after rain. If I were you I would be walking until it was all dry. My first summer in KSA was the first summer the desert was in bloom in 64 yrs (63-64, IIRC). The first week I was there they had more traffic related deaths in 1 week than San Antonio had in 1 year. SCARY.

Comaring a plastic chair victim to a wooden one?

Matt: Yeah, i just came back from a walk, the water level is knee high literaly! Thank goodness i wasnt driving!! yet very cold outside, we are not used to this

I walked around 3-4 blocks, there were 7 cars that just 'died', the water got sucked in their engines, and all i could hear is police seirins(sp)

You guys dont know from hail. Right before I moved from Dallas I had two cars totaled from hail damage. They make those peas you are holding look like a speck. It was so bad that virtually every house in the DFW area was re-roofed. It was not pretty.

It is weird there when the weather turns ugly. There is vitually no drainage in the M.E. There will be puddles 10 feet depp all over the place. Not real cool.

My step father is german, so i know what winter over there looks like

But you are correct Matt regarding the drainage, very poor, the streets are all leveled to one side, ie they are sloping at 10 degrees or so, to 'slide' all the water out of the main roads. The problem is, if there is heavy rain (as shown and experienced today which is STILL going on as we speak ) you get a river that piles up on one side that just keeps getting bigger and deeper

I have to get to work by 7:00am, and i really hope that the roads would be clear, at least to some extent to drive to work untill the sun comes up and dries up that crappy river.

Aw yes - the summer of 1980. High temp for Dallas/Ft. Worth that year was 119 degrees on the very day my oldest daughter was born. A week or two before that saw a hail storm with softball size hail - and I'm not kidding or exagerating. Spent the summer reroofing our house.

That was a summers day in June..

When driving home through Austria one summer in the late 90's me and my family went through a tunnel (I think it was the Brenner Pass) and into a rain and hail storm. Traffic crept along and at times we had to stop since we had no visibility until the next tunnel was reached and when exiting the pass it was summer again.
Apparently a rain cloud grouping had become stuck in between then mountains..
