Time to do a clutch replacement while doing a motor transplant, any suggestions on best buy for the sachs cup clutch kit. paragon advertises it for around $700.00

I beleive spec also sells a rebuldable flywheel where you replace the friction material, might want to consider that also. I have heard from people with other cars(not 951's) that they like their spec clutches. IIRC anything above a stage 1 will chatter a little.

I have a spec stage II, and it does chatter if you dont engauge the clutch kinda fast. I also have a lwfw. It was just like relearning how to drive a stick again. Once you get the hang of it, it wont chatter as long as the car is warmed up.

I have just been through this whole process... so here goes, the Spec stage 3 is not at all appropriate for the street, and chatters like the stage 2. So Spec was out. If you dont have huge power ambitions, the basic "cup" setup from Paragon or SFR is a great choice, they dont have the smaller springs the stock disk has which fail... if you have more $ and KEP PP has got great reviews from credible sources on here. I got the KEP lightweight PP, cup disk, and lightened flywheel from SFR...

I have two alpine white, 86 951's one with a locked up motor which is otherwise really nice and one with faded paint and fairly ratty interior which runs, but needs a clutch. the engine transplant car also needs a new clutch. I must be nuts but I've decided to get them both going, instead of cannibalizing the motor from the one that runs, for the nicer looking car. I don't run them all that hard but my son drives them and God only knows what he puts them through.

I would just go for a basic "cup" clutch setup... no point going to the stock unit when its not that much money... paragon or SFR will see you right.

You're not making a huge amount of power or using it hard, so I'd just go with a Cup or Spec S1 clutch - both are around/under $700 depending where you shop (I'd recommend Lindsey Racing for Spec, shop around for the Cup setup, 625 at Zims and maybe cheaper if you keep looking). No reason to go with anything fancier, won't make a shred of difference in your use.

Just be careful about the Spec, I have heard several people post that a chatter can be heard from the stage 2 and above... I have not heard anything about the stage 1 yes so cant comment. If you do go that way, perhaps you could post if you get a chatter as well...
