That explains the condition of my Turbo Cup hood when I got it... I'm amazed any of those cars are still around!

Who was that bought the DVD and was 'sharing' it? I deleted that e-mail and would like a copy.....
|
That DVD was the Rothmans 944 Canadian series (not 951) from 1986. I have a copy, but no burner. Sorry!

I would just about kill for some of that video, but no way I'm going to risk installing RealPlayer. I'm in the process of rebuilding my teenage son's PC after it was ravaged by malware despite a firewall. Getting real careful about what comes into this network these days.
Anyone have any of this stuff in video file form [non-streaming]? The 944Cup series would surely appreciate having some of that footage. Thanx! |
Downloading Real Alternative here does not require providing your e-mail adress, unlike when downloading Real Player on the Real Player website.

Thanx Thom - got it.
And MANY THANX Seb for the great footage! THis was a seious series! Now, we need to find some way to get the Canadian series video hosted somewhere. At least we will be able to follow the commentary. |
I wonder if we could convince NASA so sanction a unique 944-SPEC class - Full Contact 944SPEC?
|
Matt,
NASA sanctions the 944Cup and 944SuperCup here on the east coast. In the Mid Atlantic region, we are the largest single series group running with NASA. Given the success of the series here, I'm sure that the NASA leadsership in this area would be helpful in convincing NASA west coast to support branch of the series there. There is also a 944Cup series running in the South, based in Florida. PM if you want some contact info. It just takes someone to step up and run with the idea! The 2004 season had more contact that we would like. The 2005 season will see more enforcement of the modified 13/13 to act as a deterrent to overly aggressive racing. That said, the NASA rules are somewhat different to the strict PCA 13/13 situation. For example, there is no way that a racer who sustains damage after hitting oil dropped by another car would be hit with a 13/13 under NASA rules. This is not a criticism of PCA 13/13 rules, just trying to point out that the NASA rule is different. In the last race of the season last weekend, I blew a hose during qualifying going into the chute at Summit Point. Starting an on-board skid pad generator at 100MPH-plus is never good. Managed to save a total catastrophe, but did contact the tire wall and bent one panel in the process. No fault, no foul. |
There is a Nasa sticker on my car, did they sponsor the German turbo Cup as well? The pic is kinda bad but it's next to the "T" in "Blaupunkt"

Anders, thats a different Nasa for sure!

Anders, I noticed your hood doesn't have the reliefs in the front corners for the hood pins. Is yours a fiberglass or steel hood?
