Default coolant draining

is it possible to get to the coolant drain plug on the block without removing the exhaust manifold? if so, how? i cant even see the darn thing.

Yes, it is in the area under the #4 pipe. 13mm, can be reached from under the of the car

It is towards the rear of the block, and you should be able to get to it from the bottom side. It is tough to see indeed.

It can be reached from under the car (w/ the belly pans off) but is easier to see from above. Look just above the ridge in the side of the block. Once you get an idea of where it is, feel for it from below.

Honestly, after I let my radiator drain and then opened the block plug, not a whole lot came out (maybe a couple of cups). I'd suggest not even bothering. You could always raise the rear of the car a little higher than the front to get additional coolant out of the block.

You dont need to drain the block for a waterpump job...

yeah, but i was wanting to drain it just to get any excess crap outta there.

Why don't you just flush the system a few times after you have it all back together. Draining the block won't hurt, but you should really do that and flush the system. Also, not much is going to come out from there. It will only drain what is left in the water jugs. Unless the car is titled in that direction very little is going to come out. I would suggest flushing it out now that you have everything apart.
