The motor is light by engine-stand standards. The bare block weighs under 70lbs by itself. Crank weighs about the same. Even dripping wet, it should be well under 400 lbs. Just about any stand will do...the kind with 4 wheels is preferable to the T style with only 3 wheels. The biggest pain is getting the bolts that hold the engine to the stand. The flywheel bolts aren't usually the correct length for the stand.

Harbor Freight Tools has a 750 lb model for $40 and a 1000 lb model for $50. I have a 951 engine bolted to the $50 model right now. Works great.

You can't beat Harbor Freight for that kind of stuff. I got the 1,000 pound stand on sale for $39. Tip for those shopping at Harbor Freight - Although their mail order and store fronts are supposedly separate businesses, the store will usually honor the mail order prices (usually lower) so long as it is the same item.

Just get one with four wheels. The three wheeled ones can be a bit scary.

I have my engine on the four wheeled Harbor Freight one too (hopefully not for long!). As for the bolts, I found them at Napa. I believe the thread is a M12x150. Good luck.
