The red light in the center of the dash flickers when I take my foot off accelerator and rpm drops down to idle.
It will do it moving or stopped.
It does not prompt another error light.
It flickers, but doesn't stay lit.
Any clue?

Either that or the exciter wire to the alternator, voltage regulator, or alternator itself is going bad to the point where at low RPM the alternator isn't putting out enough juice. Either that or the idle is too low, that could also cause it I suppose. . .

Check to make sure anything else doesnt light up with it. My 86 951 under hard acceleration did the same thing but i saw the brake light and looked, my fluid was just at the min so when i accelerated hard it moved it under min for a short time resulting in flashing the ! light

could also be thin oil causing oil pressure to drop just under the threshold to kick the light on for a split second, next time see if the oil pressure light flickers at the same time as the " ! " light (happens on our 951 after enough hard running to heat the oil up a good bit, going to go to a thicker weight oil at next change, doubt dad will even notice considering he rarely drives it or does anything with it)

Maybe it's the oil. Last track session, 95 degree outside temp my oil pressure dropped, the light went onto flickering. I checked the oil and had not burned a drop.
The guys at the track said, 1. get the auxillary oil cooler, 2. ditch mobile one 0-30 and get 15-50.
However, it didn't flicker once back to normal, non track driving.
I'll check all the above suggestions and get my oil cooler and heavier oil
Thanks

either a bad ground, or crossed wire. Good luck tracing the problematic circuit. Try checking only those items that required any work done. If you dont recall replacing the oil sending unit...then scratch that as a possibiolity.

Mine does the same, I'm thinking it's a ground because when I get the red light on I pull up the e-brake a little bit and the light gets brighter (fully lit).
does your's do the same?
