So what am I to think? They look like the forged ones.

My 83 has forged rods, my spare early 84 motor also; seems to be hit an miss on the 951's according to old info. So are all 2.5L cranks the same through the years? I don't think I've ever heard of a rod failure, forged or cast, that wasn't a result of a rod bearing going first.

my understanding is that the 86 and most 87 and even 88 cars that were made in late 87 for 88 have the "true" forged rods...what that means..I don't even want to get into...shrt storyis that the forging proccess in 86 was costly and they went a cheaper route later to save costs..
I think ALL 951 rods are forged...but from what I have foud out so far is the the 86 rods are stronger becouse of the costlier forging process.....I looked into it bocouse I intend to get past the 420 rwhp and wanted to make sure my 86 rods in my 88 951 would hold up.....But once again..ALL 951 rods are forged..just for cost savingsthe process was a bit diluted later on....I am not the authority so I might be wrong.....
