I have just bought another 951 after about a five year gap in 951 ownership.
I sold just sold my 993 and my chipped 87 951 is every bit as fast.
I am looking for the most cost effective way to get 300 rwhp out of my car.
Step 1 MAF (guru or vitesse type)
Step 2 Bigger turbo I need help here I am on a budget and do not need a monster turbo. this will be a mostly street car and I do not want to loose driveability.
Step 3 bigger 55lb injectors (necessary?)
Step 4 3 bar fuel pressure regulator
What else do I need any other ideas?
Ben

Get a Vitesse stage II and you will be well over 300 rwhp......try 330-350rwhp depending on type of fuel! Everyone that has a Vitesse set-up is very happy.....just do a search!
Good luck

There are a LOT of guys running that power, so when people start to reply, don't think that is the ONLY way to get the power. I think it also comes down to how much time and cash you want to spend. Also, watch out for some people that will claim 300rwhp with not many mods, this is usually done with higher boost, not a great thing for a street car. If you really want to have a good car to drive around town, I would stay with the current turbo and upgrade exhaust, head port/polished, chips for boost at 15psi, keep the stock airbox but replace the AFM with a map/maf. Not 100% sure where that would put you as far as power but then you still have the good daily driver feel of the car. Putting on a larger turbo only helps on boost, boost takes longer (usually) then a good stock car, and you would have to run higher boost levels, up in the 18psi range.

Go with a turn key set up from Vitesse. Give Johm a call or e-mail him.
If you can't afford that, do a search on the list. There are many ways but Vitesse has a great product and custumer support! period

Hey Evil944t, so you got your head port/polished before a maf? What did you have on the car before the p/p? WHat difference did you notice after it? I am considing this when I go to a maf in my car next spring. Just wondering how much it is effect just by itself. How is the p/p then with a maf? How much of a difference?

Yup, Only because I broke a intake bolt in the head and I wanted to drill and tap it out of the car so, I also had a million miles on the original head. I P/P the head put it back together and found no difference. I never dynoed it but seat dyno said NO..
I put in some cup car chip with modded waist gate and got bord with that HP so, I changed to a Vitesse stage 2.
I'm now building a 2.8 big bore and going with larger Vitesse turbo.

Welcome back!
I, too, vote for a kit such as that from Vitesse, Lindsey, Guru, etc.
If you don't go for the kit option, along with the parts you mentioned, the K27/6 turbo is an inexpensive (~$5-600) conversion usion your stock turbo. You can easily get a MAF and chips to support it and you'll be just over 300rwhp.
This is one question that has many answers.

Head work really isn't necessary until you go for >400whp range. Like evil 944t says, it's a waste of money, especially when your K26/6 stock turbo is the bottleneck.
Some guys claim 300whp with K26's, it's really borderline for that turbo, it just doesn't flow enough air to make that kind of power.
The turnkey kits are the way to go. MAF/MAP, bigger turbo, and of course, proper tuning. If 300whp is your goal, it's easy. Just takes money.
If you want reliability, I always suggest Raceware head studs to improve head clamping. That solves most of the headgasket issues (assuming tune is correct).

I keep seeing everyone say that conerting a k26/6 to a k27/6 is cheap. I would like to know who is doing this conversion cheap as the lowest quote I have recieved is $700. To me that's not cheap when you can get a brand new turbo for $200 more.
