Default Which Testpipe ?

I've decided to install a testpipe after receiving some good advice from TonyG and Tommo.
Which testpipe is preferred? I'm going with stock diameter (2.5").
Also, would I need to get any other parts to get it installed (hangers, gaskets etc)?
Will the pipe fit perfectly or would one need to be "creative" to get it installed?

I'm looking for first-hand expieriences.

TIA

Keep it stock, John at Vitesse had 400whp on the stock 2.5".........

Unless you have plans for a 3.0L and cams, 3" is the choice

isn't a test pipe nothing more than a straight pipe replacing the cat? please someone school me on the subject.
it's called a test pipe for racing puposes or other and the cat is meant to be there thus after the event you may re-install the cat. thus test pipe. right?

Just go with Bursch test pipe. This way you can re-install the cat in case the car needs to be smogged or you want to sell it.
To answer your question yes the test pipe replaces the cat.

Schnelfahrer,
Try pelican parts for the bursch http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...exhaus_pg3.htm
its about $270 + shipping
You will need the flange gaskets for either end but pelican sell those too.
I have never dealt with them personally but I have not heard bad things about them either

Cheers
Tom

you can get a new Bursch for about 250... anyone else will sell them for nearly 400 or more. besides cat delete, its a good amount of saved weight. I found mine used on the list for cheap, good luck with that however, as everyone wants them.

No a test pipe replaces the down pipe, the cat and meets up with the central exhaust flange. I have just learnt the factory pipe is double skinned so you can't just take out the cat section. My pipe was single skinned with a cat and this caused quite a bit of confusion on here as I have known the car since it was 2 yrs old and its never had an exhaust in that time. If like Schnellfahrer you don't have emmisions issues where you are, get one!!!

I just ditched my CAT and placed a straight pipe in there.........

Talk about free flow........and STILL passes emissions here

it does not replace the actual downpipe, it fits to the downpipe. the exhast will go turbo, downpipe, testpipe, catback, muffler, released.

Eyal: how is the Spintech muffler ? Loud/quite/combo?

Got a wave file? i need a muffler (was quoted so fat $400 JUST for the muffler here, another $300 for a CLAIMED origonal 911 carrera tip ).

Im looking for an affordable ($50~$80) muffler. I did a search, not much, they are more/less the same.

Reason, im not looking for a SS muffler, catback or such item.............a nice polished tip with a nice sound level (remember, shipping here would be $$$).

Well I guess the Bursch pipe is the way to go. I'll order as soon as (or maybe IF) Pelican answers my request for a shipping quote. I'd still like to hear from those of you who have one if you've had any issues with the installation.

Thanks!
