Blue smoke on decel is a good indication of guides but you might as well replace them if you're already in there. I think I paid about $6 a guide when i replaced mine.

It's easy to tell when you take the springs off, bad ones will have play. If there's any question, you might as well get them done while the heads off and you're getting a regrind. Sprinmgs could probably be replaced too.

A 'while your in there question'..........

When the head is off, better replace the lifters/guides and valve seats??? or ONLY if one was worn/has play replace them all?

The clearance spec is .8mm -- guide to stem.

A dial indicator on the end of the stem, with the valve slighty open (2mm or so) can be used to measure the clearance. Then, whatever it measures, replace them since it is cheap and it will never be easier. (The guide should be 7+.015mm per the tech spec book.)

I failed to replace mine the last two times the head was off and regret it.

ok I will replace them then.
The intake valves have a 1 mm shims. the exhaust valve #1 and #2 has 1 mm BUT #3 and #4 have a 1.5 mm (actually one 1 mm and one 0,5mm)
I will put thes evalves in another head with reworked seats.
I must adjust the valves with springs to the new specs. Porsche use a tool to messure the springs and acordingly use the neccecary shims. I do not have this tool. How you guys use the shimms and how to know how many are neccecary? I do not think everbody has these tool.
how others know how many shims to put?
