Default Rennbay ~ A/F ratio gauges + New Design = 3 Day Sale

Our AF9 gauge that everyone loved so much has just got a bit of a makeover. They now come with a multicolor display that is set to a single dot readout mode. The picture below is of all the LEDs lighted just to show the color pattern of the new light bars.
For those of you not familiar with the AF9s they are an air/fuel ratio gauge that replaces the clock on late model Porsche 944 cars. They are a drop in replacement so there is no cutting or modifying necessary for installation. They mount in the dash using the same housing as the original clocks.
Now to celebrate the new design we are offering a major 3 day sale. This price ($34.95) is only accessible by the link below and is not advertised anywhere else but here. Its our way of saying "thank you" for everyone's awesome support of the Rennbay project over the last year and a half.
In addition to the grate pricing on this new product we are also offering 944 odometer gears at 50% off the retail price.
The sale price on both items is only good until Friday (9/3/04). If anyone has any questions please feel free to post them here or email me direct to Travis@rennbay.com

Looks very cool.... How hard is the wiring installation?

Its a simple 3 wire hookup. You hook the power and ground wires into the power hookup for the old clock and the signal wire into the DME wiring harness in the passenger side foot well. The board snaps into the clock housing, which then mounts up inside the dash.
The gauge was designed specifically for our cars so installation is fast and simple.

I have heard that a lean mixture is under 11:1. But looking at the led numbers this guage stops at 12.5. How do you know if your running lean?

Isn't lean anything over 13.0+ on boost?

11.1 is rich for boost right? or are we talking about something else?

Hosrom is correct. 11.1 is WAY rich even for a turbo. Our gauge reads the full spectrum of the 02 sensors capabilities (which can differ slightly with age/type). That is why the chart is an approximate guide. Even with slight variations between sensors they still have an accuracy of about +/- .25:1 towards the center and +/- .50:1 at the ends.
The gauge is setup with Red being lean and Blue being rich. Yellow and green in the middle are the points where you would most likely want to be depending on what setup you are running.

I think you so

A good mixture is 14.7 during idle and cruising

On boost, a perfect mix is 12.5:1

Below that, your running rich, above your running lean.

So getting 11.0 on boost is rich, getting 13.5+ is lean

Travis: What does EACH lead light represent? as in the first three reads read what 15~20?

Middle read 12.0~14.5

Ends read 11.5~9.0

i know LED a/f ratios are not accurate, but........i dont know how to say this, but EACH LED light represents how much change in ratio? (makes sense?)

The arc of the air to fuel ratio as output by the o2 sensor is not a linier signal. It has a higher degree of accuracy towards the middle of its range than on both ends. It was designed this way because the middle range is what is used most often by the cars DME/ECU.
The AF9 is just a visible readout of the exact signal that is being transmitted from the sensor to the computer.
If you look over the chart on the sales page you can see how the lights towards the middle represent a narrower range of A/F ratio where as the ones towards both ends take a larger degree of ratio change to light up.

When looking at the charts ratios keep in mind that they are setup as (amount of air) TO (amount of fuel). For example 14.7:1 would be 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel.

Hey guys.. Thanks for all the orders.

A couple of things... The sale may be extended to some time this weekend and not end Friday. We are having a bit of a Hurricane down here in FL tomorrow night so if I don't have internet access for a few days then the sale stays up. If I do then I will take it down as planned on Friday night.

Another thing. Everyone's orders are shipping out on Tuesday after we get everything straightened out here. If you placed an order on Tuesday or Wednesday then yours has shipped, everyone else will have to wait a few extra days. Again, because of the Hurricane.

As for fixing the clocks. I have tried to find a compatible LCD display to replace the broken ones but to no avail. They don't make pin-less LCDs like the ones in the clocks any more and the ones with pins that "almost" fit (size wise) have a different configuration. I am not trying to discourage anyone just trying to save you the search.
