what can i do to stop this. any quick remedies till i get it fixed properly if it can be fix. or at least buy enough time to save up some $$$ till i can buy a new shield

It's safety glass and you are doomed. The glass repair guys say they can't repair anything near the edge. I did this changing a windshield wiper when the empty arm snapped back. Started as a sngle chip, drove the car, it got longer, now it's bottom to top with a new windsheid on order. An least it's on the N/A, $218 installed; the 85.5+ goes way up especially if you have airbags!

BTW nearly 651million Euros seems alot for a windscreen. Last time i looked you could buy an aircraft carrier for that.

You can't fix a chip or crack over 1/2 inch or so.
It's common for people to break their windshields this way. If I ever replace a strut I'm going to protect it with a couple of pieces of plywood.

smkn, I feel your pain. I did the same damn thing last year while changing the hood struts, and am only now getting the glass replaced in a few weeks. I console myself in the knowledge that given a choice between cracking the glass, and bending the hood, I sure am glad that the glass broke. It ain't cheap, but it's easy to replace...
If it make you feel any better, I hadn't even put a single mile on my car when I did it, since I trailered it after purchase. It was totally mint, totally original, with only 23,000 mile on it. Flawless! And two days later, I've put a crack across the windshield! Talk about disbelief!

Just to make everyone feel better, I did the exact same stupid thing that crack my windshield while installing a twenty bucks hood struct... ![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
And whenever any experienced 944 mechanics or owners saw my cracked windshield, they would smirk and say "You tried to change the hood struct yourself, huh?"
Isn't German engineering wonderful? I almost believe that it was intentionally designed that way, so to punish us not to service our cars at dealers.
