Cant break 15sec quarter mile!!
I have taken my car to 3 quarter mile events now and i have run about 15 times and i have won just 2 races and its starting to p*ss me off!!! I have had skylines, impreza turbos and even an mr2 roadster beat me today!!!(got bad start and didnt catch him although was gaining). Was hoping to be running about 1 sec quicker than i am so am a little disappointed. I am doing a 2.3 60foot time, approx 15.2sec 1/4mile with a top trap speed of 95.1mph does this sound about right???
p.s i know our cars werent meant for drag racing so no flaming please

I would have thought with the kit you have fitted you would be closer to 14 than 15 secs for the 1/4
Before I did anything to my 91 I did a 14.6 but have not done any other runs since. Have you a dyno graph since you fitted the bits?
Cheers
Tom
PS How much clutch slip are you getting off the line?
PPS It was slightly damp on that run too!

I don't know anything about drag strips as I prefer circuits, but I thought a stock 250bhp Turbo would do 13.9. With all your mods I am surprised you are slower (unless it is technique) is your new Turbo laggier than stock - could this explain the lack of speed?

Were you at Brands Hatch today? Shame about the rain later on!

Your 60 foot is not great but average for these cars.for the mods you have some thing is set up wrong.I might be your clutch do you smell anything afterwards like bake or clutch smell. You are still way above the 15 sec MPH, which is about 90 so unless you car is not making power but the trap speed says it is then your clutch might be the issue.

Billgot from the fifteen runs that i have done i would say that i have only had any smell from the clutch on one run and that was at the last event i was at, did not smell any clutch smells today.

the slips dont have 1/8mile times im afraid just reaction time,60foot, 1/4mile and trap speed.
Diver944 there was an adult dance tent there (which i didnt go into, well my was with me!!) and the dancers were walking about talking to people and getting rides up the strip, it was freezing and they were walking about in tiny little 'g' strings...lovely

Don't worry about reaction time. it means nothing. Are you sure you are getting 17 psi of boost? do you have a gauge? How does the car feel to you? You should be able to tell the difference from a car that pulls on boost and a car that just fades.
