Default Please give your opinions for 944 Turbo S purchase.

I am considering this car for sale. I can purchase for $15,000. Are the miles to high for that price?? Thanks for any advise.

I think thats alot of miles for that price. I could be wrong. If you want to start modifying the car than I wouldn't get it.

If its a color combo you really like, as in your # 1 choice, I say go for it.

My father paid more than he probably should have for a Blue/Blue '89 Turbo last November with similar miles. But you know what, it was the only color he wanted, in the year that he wanted, so he got it. Don't always get second chances in life!

It looks GREAT, but 15K is a tad high. I'd say 14K is a top price for her. At the moment, I'd say the 13.3 bidder is in the right ballpark.

The car has obviously been cleaned up quite a bit. The engine compartment and interior look almost "too clean" for a car with that many miles, as far as I can tell from the photos. More important, however, is the overall mechanical condition of the car. This can only be verified by an independent pre-purchase inspection. If it's truly in good shape, I think the price is fair. I've seen a lot higher asking prices for Turbo S models with similar mileage.

How do they know (since it is a dealer) that the car has never been raced or abused like they say? It has had 2 previous owners...lol.

111K isn't bad. That's under 7500 miles per year. I just hit 178K in mine.
That's a very, very good looking car. If it passes a PPI I'd go for it.

For $15,000 you should expect perfection. I've looked at a lot of used 88 TS's and 89's and this is more of a sub $13,000 car, IMHO. I dislike auctions because there is no room for negotiation.

I can see several faults in the pictures:

1. There are two holes in the passenger side carpeting where a cell phone mount used to be.
2. The front underspoiler (aka "batwing") is missing. The other undercarriage trays are usually missing when this one is absent. These are costly to replace.
3. Minor curb damage to wheel rim
4. The coolant tank looks bad; most are replaced not long after they look like this. Probably still on its original radiator.
5. The original brown P/S reservoir were prone to leaking; this one looks dry and raises suspicions about the condition of the P/S rack as well.

It appears as if someone detailed the hell out of this car to improve its curb appeal. I predict there will be some work involved after purchase that would make this a sub $13,000 car.

Too high. Just for reference, I bought my Silverossa for $8500 just two months ago. Great PO (he was just getting rid of this 3rd Porsche), good records, <100K miles, no problems except a cracked dash and other minor things. I also watched another Silverossa go in New Jersey for $9500 last month on eBay. Maybe red/tan combo gets a premium, but not that much. Just be patient and the right car will come at the right price.

Thank you all for those informative opinions......
I just fell in love with the color combo. And it being an "S" and all. I'm still undecided but I forgot to mention that $15,000 included the shipping to my door (From Arizona to NJ)

Too high. If you want to look at more, go to autotrader.com, punch in the specs, hit the unlimited distance from your location, and see what's there. That is how I found the one I have. Do that for a couple weeks or months, and you'll get a better feeling for prices. I looked at EBAY a lot, and feel the prices tend to be high and the mileages are high as well. If you find something in Autotrader, you have time to contact the buyer and go look at the car. I saw lots of red ones as well, which is what I DIDN'T want. I ended up with a real dark metallic gray, 89 with 45K miles, and it was more than 15, but not outrageous. Full service recoreds and a clean bil of health from a dealer.
